Bruno was fantastic and up there with Livramento and Pope for the men of the match but taking nothing from all the other warriors in black and white on that pitch.
-
Lascelles has been fantastic since he got his call for regular football due to inuries. a few mishaps along the way but no more than most defenders make.
-
One word. Magnificent. Pope was man of the match, on par with Livramento.
-
Lewis Miley looks better and more confident with each game. This champions league effort has just secured his squad regularity for this season and who knows where that can take him. One step at a time though but he's definitely in the driving seat to regularly stake his claim.

What an absolute diamond and basically a fresh one at that.

Miggy is fantastic. He's running on duracell.

We go into this game with no real pressure to get a result, only to have a go and be counted. Regardless of what happens we've had a baptism of fire and doused some of it. Let's just hope we give a good account of ourselves and come away from the game without any injuries. The pressure's all on PSG because their fans and their media will be expecting nothing short of a win. All I say to the team is....no retreat, no surrender. We feel the need, the need for speed.

I can't see him on high wages, compared to the regulars. I think he's more than worth his weight for back up as soon as the regulars are fit, plus maybe a few additions. I think his worth is more than just on match days. There's plenty of other players that would be first out for me. 9 years at the club and many of those as captain. His wage is about 40 grand a week, I think. He's 30 years old and is as fit as a butchers dog and as strong as a Bull. He cost us about 3.5 million all those years ago. I think he's been a bargain and a half both on and off the pitch. The dent in FFP would be a small pin head tap on the east stand player flag sheet.

I don't think it's over training. A lot of our injuries are so different when you actually look at them. Willock's always been fairly regular and hasn't missed too many games for us barring the one season when his hamstring gave out and he was out for 83 days. All the rest have been very short periods, so all is not bad.

Our future is looking excellent with these youngsters coming through. Miley is excellent.

Lascelles has done nothing short of fantastic since he came in, when you consider the time he's been sidelined. I think he's got a bit of time left for Newcastle, even as a back up to rely on. It's players like Lascelles that make up the strength in the depth of the squad. Players like him who you can rely on to do a job after being out in the cold, so to speak. It's the same with Dummett. Naturally as time goes on they will be replaced with better quality but whilst we are in transition, those players are integral to our careful build. Krafth is another who I'd keep for a bit. I think some of these ageing players may have a role to play behind the scenes.

Ok cheers. Any idea what was taken?

It wasn't just Greggs. He did 4 at Greggs, 2 in maccies, 2 in burger king and finished his last hour finishing the page in his police like notebook. In between eating he spent around 6 minutes analysing then ruined it all by spilling his Mcflurry all over the page and having to ad lib it to the squad.

How many would swap Saudi weather for an English winter? Those players took the money and the climate over the premier league. Fair weather players now. most of them, most likely. Imagine coming to the north east in winter time, on loan from a holiday in the sun. If we do go in for some it'll be very interesting to see which one's are biting at the bit to come to us. Would they get up to speed in time to make their loan spell workable. Hmmm. We'll have to wait and see what comes of it all.

Your own football ability - how good are/were you?
magvicar replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
I was always average at football. I loved playing football as most kids did and do but I wasn't anywhere near naturally gifted at any of it like some that stood out like sore thumbs. Also my fitness and strength wasn't up to the required to get more than a few games for the school team, most of them in goal. The stuff I could do in my head was amazing. -
I actually agree with you. This is how progress will be made and ideals about overall squad size and quality will come to the fore with this regime, unlike the last one which would not have been building on any of this.

Has he actually been burgled? Has it been confirmed, do you know?

Most clubs will suffer their fair share of injuries. We've suffered a load almost all at once and while it isn't ideal we do have the option (hopefully) of a fresh outlook for the latter part of the season with those players back and refreshed and raring to go. All this while other club's players are struggling. I'm just trying to put a positive spin on it all to be fair.

I think Everton have been made a massive scapegoat but I have a feeling the can of worms has been well and truly blasted open and it shouldn't bode well for the bigger hitters like Man city.

Didn't Murphy dislocate his shoulder a few years ago and came back and done it again very quickly? I'm glad he's had surgery this time because it's obviously a weak issue.
-
Lewis Hall will be top notch. I have absolutely no doubt about him. It's just a matter of time. A short time.
-
No need to worry. The club's sorted out all the injury concerns. Basically we have a full fit squad to choose from. We have all the parts to cater for injuries.

Krafth is an excellent squad player to have. He came on a treat until he got his injury.
