I think it is more that he would like to join Newcastle but knows if nothing is agreed he could get better than us in 12 months time. He is in a good position with his contract running down, his only issue could then become complacency as he knows he isn't there long term.

Just watched the highlights on Newcastle's website and that period of play where Joelinton should have got the penalty, Barnes had the chance on the right hand side and Tonali and Grealish had there tussle was fantastic. Shame it had to end with one of the worst crosses you'll see from Tonali . Some really good football from us and something to now build on for the coming games.

Probably the worst I’ve seen us for effort in a game under Howe. Seems really half arsed. So disappointing, I thought we would play well today. Pope, Burn, Gordon have been the poorest for me. Burn twice in a row, I’d get him off for Hall and move Kelly inside and get Tonali on but I can’t see us getting anything out of this

Tackles like that should be red cards, no intention of going for the ball and very aggressive.

Surely that substitution is either made about 20 minutes earlier or not at all? They had just started to be the better team.

How on earth is that not given

I wish we had signed Kudus, he is one hell of a player.

Was never convinced by West Ham's spending when everyone were saying they are the dark horses for this season. Of course that could change over the course of the season but not impressed at all by them.

I would start Osula just to have a presence up top with Gordon and Barnes either side, but I am 99.99% sure that Eddie will not do that and will only bring him on if we are either comfortably winning or comfortably losing.

I think this run of away games is huge and pivotal to how are season is going to go. Three very winnable games in the league away from home (on paper much easier than the Bournemouth game in my opinion), if we can get 7 points from them we are looking great for this season. If we have last seasons form and only manage 3 or fewer points then all of a sudden it is a bad start to the season and alongside the transfer window some real negativity would come in. Lets hope Howe has sorted us out away from home and we start to really kick on.

Joao Gomes for them is also away with Brazil so is in the same boat as Bruno, he is one of their best players.

Genuinely think with the right attitude he would have been challenging for the ballon d'or, an unbelievably good footballer. Having that bad attitude, however, meant that we got to have him at Newcastle and I don't know if I will ever see a better footballer at Newcastle in terms of natural ability, a joy to watch!

Didn't matter in the end but I don't get why Howe didn't bring him on earlier. As soon as were under the cosh it was the obvious substitution to make to lift the crowd and to try and regain some control. Thought he did well when he came on, excited to see how much he brings between now and the rest of the season.
-
Yeah which is great for him and his match fitness levels, just think that Howe will then not drop Longstaff as a result.

I can't see Tonali starting, although I definitely would, he will have Longstaff on the training ground over the next two weeks whilst Tonali is away so think he will go with Longstaff.
