  1. Salah wiping all the Liverpool stuff off his twitter bio is also fucking delicious. Shite when he plays and a massive baby when he’s dropped. He’ll be off in January.
  2. Love it when these jovial, level headed managers like Klopp, Postecoglu, Slot etc turn into snivelling little cunts the second they’re under pressure. Meanwhile Howe hasn’t let himself down even once despite everything. Liverpool have been shite since the cup final so I can see why he’s fully rattled by us.
  3. Not necessarily related to Trippier but why do we never get central free kicks we can shoot from? I was expecting him to score a few a season from them but we get nothing. Feels like they’re a dying art for some reason.
  4. “Can someone put Jack Grealish back in the England squad? Instead of a night on the pitch with the lads in Latvia in the pissing rain, Jack was drowning his sorrows in Dubai. Last Sunday he rocked up in McGettigans, Jumeirah Lake Towers (a chain Irish bar in a bland expat suburb - think O’Neils Kingston-upon-Thames or Kennedys Altringham) just after opening. And proceeded to stay there all day drinking. Jack was absolutely lovely to all concerned. Taking selfies, playing with kids, holding people’s babies. He even paid for everyone around him in the pub to have a roast dinner. At one point, he also tried to video call Ronan Keating, who he considers “a best mate”. Eventually the pints were too much for such an elite athlete, and Jack started to snooze. Someone called one of the local celeb fixers - a big English bloke called Bill - who turned up and got the footballer home. His girlfriend must have been delighted.” “Some extra info on the ‘Jack Grealish Irish Boozer’ story in last Thursday’s mailout. His eyes obviously lit up when he saw the fixture list. An international break and then Man City v Everton, where his on-loan status kept him off the pitch. Because last Sunday’s drinking session at McGettigans, Dubai, really did go on and on. He was too drunk for his girlfriend to let him back into their hotel suite, so when he conked out, bar staff carried him (still in his chair) off into a quiet corner so he could sleep it all off in peace. (And it says good things about him, the staff and fellow punters that no-one shopped him to anyone but us afterwards).“ A fair few Man City fans reckon Grealish leaving City has been extremely good for Foden.
  5. I’d say the difference between Isak and Owen is that Owen was a smarmy, heartless, tourist prick from day one which meant few people actually cared about him whereas Isak is most likely tattooed onto people’s bodies and probably has children named after him. Those weren’t his choices of course and he didn’t necessarily show us much love but it takes a fairly unique type of person to burn such a sturdy bridge in such a spectacular way for potentially minimal gain.
  6. Fixtures are a complete red herring so far this season because only Wolves and West Ham have been bad from day 1, with West Ham soon to improve. There is no good run of fixtures to look forward to which means we’re playing capable at worst teams every week. The overall improvement in the league combined with our extra games is going to make this season a real challenge.
  7. Currently 6 points off 4th after 8 games. Now really isn’t the time to be throwing in the towel.
  8. Aside from the obvious reasons, it’s hard to take it seriously when the two main characters look absolutely nothing like the real people.
  9. This is probably one of the remaining hangovers from the previous lot. It takes a long time to find, sign and develop top 6 youngsters and it’s even more complicated when the person most involved in these things can’t hold down the job for very long. Due to the huge, rapid progress on the pitch it’s easy to forget just how far behind we are/were in most areas, to the point where our last DOF before Ashworth was Joe Kinnear in 2013. Lest we forget…

    João Pedro

Delap - long term injury Mbuemo - done nowt Cunha - done nowt/injured Sesko - done nowt Strand Larsen - injured Ekitike - second choice now Isak - finished Woltemade -
  11. Anderson - 85.5 Bruno - 81.8 Tonali - 80.3 Joelinton - 80.1
  12. He’s made 508 passes this season in the league. Tonali has 311, Bruno has 212 and Joelinton has 107.
  13. “It was a very, very difficult period. The worst of my career. It was as if my hell began at Newcastle. “There, on the first day back in August 2014, I was placed directly with the reserves. A terrible humiliation. Weeks passed and I was always with these young 16 and 17-year-olds on land away from the pros. “I did not understand. They gave me a nightmare. It was full of little cheap shots. And when I believed in me [getting out] by signing for Nice, they were forbidden to hire me [until July]. “I had the feeling of being locked in a dark room without a door, or in an endless tunnel. I saw hell and especially no solution to my problems. At that time, I was wrong, I did not see any light. I was a prisoner. “I was slapping myself every day to not let go. I tried to convince myself that the light was coming back, I was going to find the right path. By signing this summer with Nice, I really felt out of hell. In fact, that’s it, I come back from hell.”
  14. The defence in general under Bobby was largely nowhere near good enough to challenge for the title/top 4 and yet we did. Hughes, Griffin, Dabizas and O'Brien were often the back 4 in the CL with Steve Caldwell the only defender on the bench.
  15. For obvious reasons Howe is the clear number 1 if he counts while Bruno personifies the whole journey we’ve been on since the takeover. A talented headcase who took a chance on us when we were on the ropes and then has completely fallen in love with the club and area while leading us to a trophy. I’ve named my robot vacuum Bruno and it’ll be a dark, dark day if I ever have to change that. I’ll add Burn as 3 because I was still crying uncontrollably well into the half time break when he scored against PSG. That was the moment I felt we had truly made it out of the dark times and him being the scorer felt like a victory for all us very long suffering Geordies. I’m basing these picks mostly on emotion since I barely had a single one in the many, many years of apathy. Howe, Bruno and Burn made me care again.

    Kevin Keegan

Quite a few mid 90’s stories in that one as well. 1:12:00 is good. Can’t get enough of stories about Keegan’s tactics and methods. Howe would hate him.
  17. Got the feeling he hates Postecoglu based on the full time hand shake.
  18. Why stop there? The new full backs have been crap and the keeper looks worse with his feet than Douglas Bader. Only Ekitike has looked good but he’s a known headcase who’ll cause more trouble than he’s worth.
  19. “Do you think he could come back?” ”I’d love him to 😍😍😍” Paraphrasing slightly but he was asked directly and said he’d love him back. Also said he sees him playing in a wide variety of positions (6, 8, 10 and out wide).
  20. [Kicker] Oliver Glasner on Manchester United speculation: “I’m aware of the rumours, but that’s all they are. I’m staying neutral and completely calm, concentrating on my daily work with the players and staff, and simply trying to enjoy it.”
