Newcastle 3 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur - 22/10/07 - Post match reaction from page 17

I thought Barton was poor.

Not Dawson poor, or Jenas poor, but that was pretty underwhelming as far as debuts go.

Didn't do much, tbf. Set up the attack that lead to the third goal (turned and passed to Jose, who got space on the wing)

Can we please keep this back four? Aside of a lazy moment and a lucky bounce we really shut them down when they brought play into our third. Faye and Cacapa didn't have the pace to keep up with some breakaways but that aside they looked brilliant and most importantly added to our attack on set pieces. Oh and I love Martins, is it really that impossible to consistently pair him up with Owen? We looked good today and hopefully we'll carry it into our next match.

Faye and the defence in general is showing improvements, Shay is doing a good job at not letting them slack off, dunno why he does so many punts though when our attacking line is so small but just a small gripe really.

Enrique played well again IMO.

Yep. Seemed to link up well with Zog and has a good touch to get him out of trouble. No real complaints about the back four. Once they've had 10 games together, we'll start to look really solid, imo.

Martins official MotM. Can't disagree too much, he was a constant thorn in their side all game, and deservedly grabbed a goal.

Edit - thought they were going to do it there on Setanta, but they didn't.

Agree that Faye and Butt were the best players out there today. Would like to mention the link between Enrique and Martins in the first half as well. Lots of quality passes from the spanion!
