Teasy
Haven't posted for ages. (So p***d off with everything NUFC). I still won't go back until I see real evidence of investing in true growth and development in the club. However, I think McLaren deserves to be given a chance. Yes, he has recent failings. However in his career - he also had huge achievements - both as a coach and manager (no need to repeat them). I still don't believe a word about what the FCB says - actions truly do, speak louder than words!!!! But, at least Carver and Stone leaving suggests that thing might be moving for the better. I think supporters should get behind the new head coach at the start of the season, as long as there has ALSO been progressive investment in the woefully under-strength and short of numbers squad. BUT, I'm not holding my breath!! I wish people would stop saying the bollocks in bold. Why does Steve McClaren deserve a chance at managing a club he has no association with in a town he has no association with? Nobody said he deserves the job, just that now he's got it he deserves a chance. Simply because he isn't useless, he might just be a good coach. Willow
He came across really well on the radio tonight. Is this available to listen to online? https://www.facebook.com/bbcnewcastle/videos/10152964200911279/ Impressive interview, hopefully he gets the resources to get us back on track. He has my full support.

Why does Steve McClaren deserve a chance at managing a club he has no association with in a town he has no association with? He's either been sacked or walked away from his last 5 jobs which he was failing at and he's turned the job down twice when in less than 6 months when it suited him to do so. Really, he shouldn't be anywhere near the club and he definitely does not deserve the job, far from it. So someone new comes in, who is well respected as being a good coach, gets rid of the old staff, says some positive intentions in every interview, and your not even willing to give him a chance? Mick
Nobody said he deserves the job, just that now he's got it he deserves a chance. Simply because he isn't useless, he might just be a good coach. He doesn't deserve anything, all he's done so far is waffle on. He's saying the right things today which is good but nothing that anybody else in his position wouldn't be doing. mofo
Apologies if giggs but this is a decent read - http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-mcclaren-newcastle-united-boss-9437243 Aww man, why am I letting myself get exited?!? I've said from the start I don't mind McClaren I think he will do a decent job.
Mick
So someone new comes in, who is well respected as being a good coach, gets rid of the old staff, says some positive intentions in every interview, and your not even willing to give him a chance? I wouldn't have given him the chance of taking the job after he's turned us down twice and failed again at another club. On giving him a change, I've got no option now that he has the job and I hope he does well.
Happy Face
Why does Bobby Rosbson get credit for turning us down when he wasn't even in a managerial role elsewhere, but McClaren gets hammered for committing to his current club when connected to us? healthyaddiction
I guess because Bobby Robson was one of the best managers in the world where as Steve McClaren is shit and doesn't deserve the job.
Ronaldo
Why does Bobby Rosbson get credit for turning us down when he wasn't even in a managerial role elsewhere, but McClaren gets hammered for committing to his current club when connected to us? When did this happen, for a start? When did he get credit for it, supposing pretending it did?
mrmojorisin75
I guess because Bobby Robson was one of the best managers in the world where as Steve McClaren is shit and doesn't deserve the job. interesting the word "deserve" being thrown around a lot in here...who does deserve a shot at the job out of interest? healthyaddiction
Earlier this season. Not sure how you missed it.
Nobody
His "pfff" is going to get annoying very, very soon. Maybe even before I've finished listening to the interview.

Me, I'm fucking quality. Or someone who has some recent success in top flight football.

Dave
I don't hold any ill will whatsoever towards McClaren for 'turning us down'. 100% of the embarrassment and shame of that lies with the club.
Elliottman
So he was in a managerial role elsewhere. Robson turned us down before he took the job because he wasnt offered enough cash.
Happy Face
So he was in a managerial role elsewhere. No. He'd been shifted upstairs.
Unbelievable
I don't hold any ill will whatsoever towards McClaren for 'turning us down'. 100% of the embarrassment lies with the club. Funny. You could say the same thing about him taking the job and it would be equally true.
Ronaldo
So he was in a managerial role elsewhere. Robson turned us down before he took the job because he wasnt offered enough cash. He didn't turn 'us' down. I'm sick of repeating this on here now. He turned down an utterly derisory salary.

Ronaldo
So he was in a managerial role elsewhere. No. He'd been shifted upstairs. He'd been shifted upstairs by January 1997 when Keegan quit?
