NUFC_Chris
Wonder how McClaren would've got on with HBA. Could've done with a fit HBA on the flank putting crosses in for Mitro.
Jayson
Dont see how you can leave Cisse out. You're asking a lot of a 20 year old to take on both central defenders in his first season. That 20 year old has scored against top level competition in the CL, he's a lot more experienced than his age gives credit for. True but the context is a bit different also. New team for him, more pressure from a big transfer, teams entire style of play is being rebuilt right now, new players getting used to eachother. A lot has to click & work together. Another striker right next to you instantly takes some of that off & at the very least takes the attention of one of those Cb's. Just bored of watching one striker get isolated for us. Maybe Mclaren will sort that out, been the same story so far pre season though. Needs improvement.
Mole_Toonfan
Oh same, i can't remember the last time i saw a Newcastle team which was actually a team and not 3 parts miles apart from each other (defense, midfield and attack) but it doesn't mean it can't change. Also i wouldn't be surprised if we started slowly tbh, i'm kind of expecting it all things considered but as long as there are signs of improvement in the early weeks i'm ok with it. U2
I've watched Mitrovic give as good as he got against Dortmund's defence. He'll be 'reet on his own up top.

sbnufc
Lot of people in for disappointment, judging from all the line ups recently posted without captain geordie jack in the starting

Dortmund's defence is f***ing s*** tbf They give up a lot of space but in terms of physicality i wouldn't say it's easy for a young striker to play against. Ikon
Yeah i think we'll be slow starters as well, it will take time before the team looks fluid (if it ever will) as there seems to be big changes in style/tactics. Especially with many new players as well. Worth noting is that it can't get fucking worse As mentioned, if we move in the right direction, safe and slowly, then no complaints from me. I'll give it 45 minutes before i smash something if Colback's captain and runs around weak as hangover piss though.
Segun Oluwaniyi
My preferred 11 for next season with the current signings: Krul Janmaat Dummett Coloccini (Hopefully Mbemba or someone new) Haidara Wijnaldum Tiote Sissoko De Jong Perez/Aarons Mitrovic/Cisse --------------------------------------------- The biggest problem areas for me currently are the disastrous centre of defence and the centre of midfield. None of the current Central defenders are good enough. Dummett may develop and Coloccini is still useful occasionally, but it will be a problem unless there are at least two signings for that position. The midfield is interesting. All of the players (Abeid, Titoe, Colback, Anita, possibly Sissoko and De Jong) are all at least decent and have their own attributes, but I am not sure they fit together in any coherent way. Anita is the one I rate least, so ideally he would be sold. IMO, Colback is preferrable to Tiote and Abeid (he has the potential to be very good, but is likely to be sold before that could happen anyway), but there needs to be a more physical presence in midfield than Jack, who is lightweight. McClaren is decent manager imo, as well, so there is no reason for this side not to finish between 9th and 14th as is the aim.
Nattfare
My eleven would look something like this: Not Elliot Janmaat - Not Willyumsun - Not Williamson - Not Dummett Not Colback - Abeid Not Gouffran Not Gouffron Not Gouffrän Not Riviere
BONTEMPI
Krul Janmaat New New Haidara Sissoko Wijnaldum Perez De Jong Aarons Mitrovic/Cisse Hopefully we get more options.
Nobody
Krul Janmaat Coloccini Dummett Haidara Abeid Wijnaldum Ayoze De Jong Aarons Mitrovic Like I've said, I don't think Sissoko will still be here, and even if he is, I don't think I'd find a place for him in our starting XI. He would be competition for Wijnaldum and one of the front three midfield positions. Looking promising on Mbemba, so he comes in instead of Coloccini if we get him in. Leaves us a bench of: Darlow, Coloccini (Taylor), Anita, Cabella, Marveaux, Cissé.
Guest palnese
Sissoko will start every game he's fit, imo.
midds
Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Colback move to LB to shoehorn others into CM. Colback will start every game though, of that I'm almost certain.
Mole_Toonfan
Sissoko will start every game he's fit, imo. I agree that he will, but if he's going to not be playing on the wing i'd rather he didn't tbh.
afar
Since it looks like we are doing our 11's, based on current squad mine is: Krul Janmaat Taylor Laschelles Haidara Abeid Wijanldum Sissoko Aarons De Jong Mitrovic Bench: Darlow Dummett Colo Colback Cabella Perez Cisse I think Sissoko is difficult to place, if we assume De Jong is an automatic, perhaps they are both fighting over one position. I'm not convinced about playing Perez on the right we need a RW and 2 CBs desperately, then Mclaren will have a few tough decisions to make. But we also need to clear out a lot of dead wood too. Dave
Ignoring the fact I know nothing about the new players, I'd currently chuck the following players out there in some sort of order. Krul, Janmaat, Coloccini, Dummett, Haidara, Perez, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, De Jong, Cisse, Mitrovic.

Guest
I'd like to see Aarons rather than Cisse. Mitrovic up front, Aarons left-wing, Ayoze sort of with a free role starting from the right (lack of a right-winger accommodated by the fact we have Janmaat), De Jong more central playing off Mitrovic, and Wijnaldum & Sissoko as the two in the middle. Dave
Need as many proven goalscorers in the team as possible IMO.
Guest
I could see Mitrovic struggling to form a partnership with someone whose all round game isn't the best.

It's a good thought, but the issue then is who covers our pony back 4? We need someone to play the anchorman role which means sacrificing a player to include one of Tiote, Anita, Abeid or (dare I say) Colback. Chances are it will definitely be Colback every time though. Can't see Aarons being a starter, or Ayoze.
Mole_Toonfan
Need as many proven goalscorers in the team as possible IMO. It's a nice idea, but considering the amount of midfielders we have i can't see it and because we might struggle to create enough to make it worthwhile. Dave
Embarrassingly, Cisse is the only player we've got that we know can score regularly in the Premier League. Irrespective of the quality of service, until he is sold (or the new lad starts firing them in) I find it a bit odd that we'd leave him out. We're looking at a complete overhaul in how well we play and create as a team before we're confident enough we can cope without a striker like him. Bit optimistic that IMO.
