Toon Amy
I could have sworn I read a recent interview where Shearer said he wouldn't be interested anytime soon, and that the speculation made him cringe. Although I do agree he'd make a good coach, I don't think Allardyce needs the added pressure of being in the shadow of Shearer. Let him decide himself who he wants to bring in. Dave
The Owen thing is part of the Harry Harris column, they get the Express here in the office. I am told that England striker Michael Owen has not been that impressed with new Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce. Of course, expect a glut of denials, but informed sources suggest that Owen would jump at a move in the January transfer window. Big Sam has publicly declared that Owen is not for sale, but if their relationship has cooled, then expect developments soon enough.
Minhosa
I could have sworn I read a recent interview where Shearer said he wouldn't be interested anytime soon, and that the speculation made him cringe. Although I do agree he'd make a good coach, I don't think Allardyce needs the added pressure of being in the shadow of Shearer. Let him decide himself who he wants to bring in. Yeah - he was interviewed in the 'Metro' paper in London and said something along those lines. He intimated that he wouldn't be looking for anything until his BBC deal expires which is in a couple of years I think. TBH I'd rather he didn't come back right now. Whilst it's clear Allardyce and Mort have got loads of work to do it's nice that they can do it without the likes of Shearer over their shoulders i.e: Without any pressure or influence from previous regimes. The pressure would increase should Shearer arrive as people's expectations would rise. I'm not knocking him here but we don't even know that Shearers any good as a Coach/Assistant Manager or at whatever role he might get in the future. Now's not the time to be taking chances with appointments based on heart rather than head.

Whether there's something in it or not, I can't help feeling it is inevitable he is going to go. If he is, it should be ASAP so we can look at building something rather than trying to accomodate him into Sam's style which clearly doesn't get the best out of him. LoveItIfWeBeatU
Everytime Owen is away on international duty there is always a story in the press about him wanting to leave Newcastle. It's a shame we can't put stuff like this out into the media about journalists: - "I am told that The Express have not been that impressed with Harry Harris. Of course, expect a glut of denials, but informed sources suggest that The Express would jump at the chance to get rid of Harry Harris. Expect developments soon enough." "Rumour has it the Anal Oliver is on his way out of the Chronicle following an angry exchange with the Editor. An unamed source informs us words such as "Source, gone, fucked, now, useless, buck-toothed, fuckwit" were thrown about and NUFC wouldn't be surprised to see him gone in the January P45 window". For any Newcastle manager to accept Alan Shearer being given a coaching role in their staff would require gullibility of almost Roy Evans like proportions. Sam ain't that dumb. Guest eyeball_tickler
Alan Shearer has sensationally emerged as the shock candidate to replace Steve McClaren as England boss following a harrowing Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. Ex-England and Newcastle skipper Shearer has told close friends he would take the job if it is offered - despite having no management experience. And that's alerted senior FA bosses who are deliberating over which way to go after McClaren's stumbling attempt to qualify for Euro 2008. Sources close to Shearer claim his move into management is imminent despite having 18 months left on his Match of the Day contract. The former striker would be following an illustrious trio who have taken control of their country without management experience: Jurgen Klinsmann at Germany, Marco van Basten at Holland and Mark Hughes with Wales. The Geordie legend believes he could do the job and would have the respect of the players. Shearer has also spent three years completing the bulk of his coaching qualifications. Appointing him as England boss would be a brave move - but with no obvious candidate to replace McClaren the FA are split on which way to turn. Aston Villa chief Martin O'Neill will also be considered as will Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce and Reading chief Steve Coppell http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_headline=make-me-england-gaffer&method=full&objectid=20123746&siteid=93463-name_page.html zero quotes, of course.
