Gutted if the Love goes to Man City

Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is planning to end his goals crisis by landing a Brazilian striker from Russia with Love.

Eriksson hopes to close a £7m deal with CSKA Moscow for colourful hitman Vagner Love, one of his long-term targets and now the clear first-choice to answer his prayers.

Love, 23, who has 20 Brazil caps, wants to come to the Premier League and his agents were in Manchester yesterday to sort out the deal.

Came from Bristol City like Andy Cole although that's where the similarity ends. If we were after anyone from Reading I'd much rather have the Ginger Ninja.

Horseshit. :)

It is in The People :yikes:

Kevin Keegan wants Reading striker Leroy Lita - but will have to pay £7million to land the fiery forward ... and it could signal the end for Michael Owen.

Newcastle boss Keegan has switched his search for a new hit-man to the Royals ace and wants to push through a deal before the transfer window shuts.

Lita has not scored in the Premier League this season but Keegan has been given rave reports, including a reference from England Under-21 chief Stuart Pearce.

Former Manchester City manager Pearce rates Lita highly despite some of the off-the-field adventures that have hit his career - and Keegan thinks he can handle the young forward.

However, Reading want big money for Lita, one of many players that Steve Coppell is jealously guarding. But there could yet be a deal before business stops on Thursday.

Lita would add fire, flair and pace to the Toon attack - but it would also mean an exit for one of their strikers. Newcastle already have Owen and Oba Martins, who are small and nimble forwards.

If they can agree a fee for Lita it would probably be paid for by the sale of either Owen or Nigerian star Martins.

Yeah, because we all know how bankrupt we are.

More paper crap if you ask me.

Lita is exactly the type of player i can see us signing tbh. although there is no chance of us selling Martins or Owen.

Lita is a better footballer than Martins and will be of more use to the way KK will want us to play than any of our current strikers due to his pace. (Martins has pace but no brain) He's basically a poor man's Andy Cole. I'd welcome his signing. He's young, hungry and won't be coming to us on the way down ala Owen or at the end of his career ala Viduka. He's someone who can be developed and perhaps flourish.

Some of the names being mentioned in this thread!

Lita, Jerome, Koumas?!

Keegan will obviously have a good chunk of money to spend, let's spend it on players who will actually improve us.

I'd rather we didn't sign anyone in this window and prepare for a major rebuilding process in the summer instead of panic buying players like that who will be a total waste of money.

You understand players will need to actually want to join us right?
