So appointing a bloke who had only captained his country & was a leader of a team in black N white but with no managerial experince can work out.

Or a manager who took a pretty average side by European standards to the Champions League Final, playing an attractive style of football perhaps...

Were talking about the same person

That's what I'm saying, of course he's got managerial experience.

The ex-Blues captain is in contact with Newcastle's directors, ready for management once again after his last two experiences at Monaco & Juventus.

Newcastle are today looking for a manager, preferably foreign and possibly French "to give the Magpies a continental style that they don't have", and if the decision hasn't already been made, it's Deschamps, this Tuesday, who's ready to take over the leash. Contacts were first made on Sunday, just after the club's 6-0 hammering at Manchester United. Since then, British managers, both free and with clubs have been on the list, and the name of the ex-France captain was brought up with other names (such as Houllier).

Deschamps is expected to arrive in England or elsewhere in the next few hours to at last meet up to finalise a deal. He will meet up with the club's owner Mike Ashley (who at 39 is the same age as him), and Chairman Chris Mort.

In contact with Manchester City, another Premier League club, in the summer, he rejected the job for personal reasons, most notably because there were no French schools for his children. Although there are also none in Newcastle, Deschamps is desperate to return to management, and since it's not certain there'll be a host of clubs interested in a new manager at the end of the season, here lies a good opportunity to get back into it.

Cheers.

Btw thought i would mention this in here

there is a Exclusive Alan Shearer interview tomorrow in The Sun about the job

Everything in The Scum is a bloody exclusive.  I'm surprised they don't print "EXCLUSIVE!" just by the date on the front page.

What thespence is saying is that it worked for Desailly, so why can't it for Shearer?

more than if a cameraman were to stick a camera in his face?

thats whats pissed me off with SSN I think, the "exclusive interviews" with Keegan and Shearer.

Interviews, or just pouncing on them unexpectedly in public and throwing questions at them without giving them time to think?

Deschamps - Class.

A masterstroke if Morticia gets this one in the bag.

So they wouldn't have failed the first test after all then?

No they've failed the first test clearly.

This is now the second test.

The first test being replacing a manager with some decorum  and planning and at a time beneficial to the club.

They did the second part, every extra game under Fat Sam was damaging us more.

Baggies miffed cause his fav pensioner ain't taking over or his sudden found love of Redknapp hasn't bourne fruit either.

Where as Parky is sulking because he didn't think we would get a top manager even though he wanted Allardyce over Sven in the Summer. :cheesy:

The day we hired SA I had Sven as my avatar, dear. Good try.

For me are the dark horses and will surprise many under the astute stewardship of Sven who I would have had here if Allardyce wasn't available

Nice try indeed, if you want to carry on this point scoring craic though like you're NE5's fluffer then carry on, otherwise zip it.

You were happy with Redknapp. We'll leave it there shall we? lol

Not when he was appointed to Monaco, back then he was a former international captain & a black N White legend.

To be honest, the worst thing about Desailly is the commitment issue - will he hang around for long, and will he work with our academy.

???

Not another favourite?
