Having a private lunch with KK in May after one of the lads won it in a silent auction. Can’t wait.

I’ll be sure to ask plenty of questions from NO!

Ask him if he’s an icon or a legend.

I can still remember the exact moment at school aged about 14 when I heard about his sale. That's how huge it was. Total shock.

Exactly the same. Have to say I feel our generation was the one of the greatest times, I was devastated from the news, I even lost faith in KK for about a month, but then all was forgiven.

Absolute best times to be a young lad??

I saw that Cole video this morning and I have to admit...I thought he left with a way bigger "fuck you lot" than that video suggests. I was devastated when he left and that vid seems to suggest he wasn't anywhere near as happy about it as the media let on.

I loved Coley and do again now but I absolutely hated him when he sang the "Cheer up Kevin Keegan" song in the Cup Final the following year!

He was never happy about anything. A right sulky sod, but did a great job for us.

His partnership with Beardsley was incredible - I think Beardsley really made Cole's career.

Unsure why he is adored so much. Quit the club twice and failed twice. Not much more to say really.

There's porn on the internet.
How come it's this kind of stuff that gets you off?

Very niche.

Oh, sorry, to get back on topic re KK.

Everyone says his second coming was a disaster, but it really wasn't.

I still think he'd have done a job here if he'd stayed, but he still did call out Ashley quick, early and with unerring accuracy.

Really hope he gets some kind of role back here as an ambassador or whatever.

It ended in disaster, but the football was great after those initial few games  while he turned it around.

Same, some hitherto unknown mackem/football fan couldn't wait to tell me on my way to maths (last lesson) with a massive smile on his face. Sounded as prepostorous as hearing someone say "Cantona's kicked a fan" under the Leazes a week later. Like nearly every sunderland-facing person I knew at my school none went to games and their only identification as mackems was getting excited at some bad news for NUFC. (Keegan going to England, same rumour about our players having affairs etc.)

It stung cos of the Gascoigne, Waddle, Beardsley selling club hangover but was completely out of the system a week later after we'd played Man U off the park and won at Blackburn. Think part of the chanting "Keegan wonderland" for an hour after the game was "sorry for ever doubting you" purging.

From what I understood, Cole thought he was "it" around that time, the adulation had got to him a bit and his training was deteriorating.

If he'd have stayed, maybe his career would have nosedived. By moving to Man U under Fergie, he got a kick up the ass and pushed on again which might never have happened if he'd have stayed because he'd have gotten comfortable.

Also, for all we say he excelled at Man U, he never recaptured the form he had for us. Not even close. "That" season he scored 41 in 45 with 34 in the league, and overall in his time with us he scored 68 in 84. For Man U, that drops to a somewhat less stellar 121 in 275, nowhere near as good, and his best season for them yielded 25 goals in all competitions, only 15 of which were in the league.

Maybe Keegan saw a chance to sell him whilst his value was at its highest, knowing that he'd already peaked.

He wouldn't have got anywhere near that without Beardsley though. Beardsley helped his career so much, so unselfish, and provided great service, dont get me wrong, Cole did a bit also.

I thought it was a simple case of Keegan wanting Ferdinand as his main striker.
