Sky Sports breaking news: Woodgate passes medical and will sign a 3 and a half year contract tomorrow.

TBF Woodgate passing a medical will make it on CNN never mind SSN

I was thinking more Fortean Times.

Wait what happened with King today? Did he get injured again?

Nah, just rested. Should play on Wednesday.

Ahhh, the old "rested". Get used to that with Woodgate. Those games where he was "rested" and expected to play the next game. 4 weeks later he returned to training following injury. Ah, the memories.

Not what I'm hearing.    'A few weeks on the sidelines'.

Itk's are full of rubbish tbh.

I don't know why anyone would be disappointed at this news other than that a player has seemingly turned us down. Woodgate is not and never will be the player he once was which for me put him at the top end of centre-backs in European football. Today due to all those injuries and what have you he's no more than a decent Premiership defender (on his day) but one that would have cost a crazy amount of money to sign and equally to keep in wages with no real certainty that he'll remain injury free. I think in Faye we have just as good a defender (although different) who cost pennies in comparison and who actually represents our future. I can see why Keegan would have wanted Woodgate because he's a cultured defender, experienced, available and knows the club. But for me we've dodged a potential bullet just like we did when we sold him to Real Madrid where he played a handful of games in 2 years. The plus point from all of this is Keegan's intent to sign footballers of quality regardless of position and I'm sure he'll do just that if not in this window, in the summer. Woodgate or no Woodgate.

I wonder whether Woodgate joining was subject to us progressing in the FA Cup.  Seems a bit strange that a deal that seemed to be all but tied up, collapses after we crash out of the FA Cup.
