Guest Phil K
Hughton. Hughton made mistakes too, but we liked him as much as the players. Pardew isn't liked by either There's plenty about Pardew to dislike/criticise without making things up. It's quite evident most of the players actually do like/respect him. Really ? Whatever gave you that idea ?

Tiresias
Ben Arfa has spoken about how much he likes Pardew in the past hasn't he? Players not liking him is nonsence imo and imo Pardew's man management is pretty much the only redeemable aspect of his managership.

Perhaps I see these rumours, look at performances....2 +2 sometimes does add up to 4 ! Have any links to back that up? Hang on - you saying you HAVEN'T seen rumours along those lines ? Its one thing believing or not believing them. Take your choice. But to say you haven't seen them ?

Tiresias
I don't think poor performances necessarily translate to players not liking a manager, in fact I think it suggests they listen too much to him

themanupstairs
Hatem's best position has always been out wide. Jonas and Obertan ffs. His best position is not wide in a 4-4-2. It's wide in a 4-3-3. There's a massive difference in roles. 100%
Tiresias
It's also noticeable that we haven't had much public whinging from players that might want to leave. I suspect Cabaye is hoping to go (wonder if he's waiting for Man U and isn't keen on PSG or something) but he hasn't kicked up a fuss or anything particular that you'd expect if the dressing room was torn apart. We'll wait and see if he kicks one up if we refuse a proper bid or something.

What the f*** are you on about, seriously? FFS calm down. We differ in our view on Pardew. You think Pardew is deeply loved by players I think he isn't. Lets leave it at that, eh ? Maybe you'll be proved right, maybe not. We'll see in time or not at all - personally I couldn't give a toss.

No smoke without fire. Maybe if I saw a little more enthusiasm from the players on the start of the season..... Did Colo get sorted by Pardew or Ashley or someone else ? Maybe I AM coming to conclusions. But it was plain Hughton was liked by players. I don't get the same feeling on Pardew - not hated, FGS. Just no respect. We do not differ in our opinion on Pardew; we both seem to think he's not good enough. I have never suggested Pardew is "deeply loved", just that quite a few players have come out unprompted and suggested they like or respect Pardew as a person. The fact is you just made up some shit about the players disliking him, which is completely unsubstantiated. Also, this concept that our results in the past season are because the players dislike the manager is completely misguided, and future results won't prove one way or the other your suggestion. As I said, there's plenty to criticise about Pardew without resorting to outright conjecture.

Tiresias
The very definition of an 'at least we tried' attempt at a transfer. We need another striker, a winger, potentially a Cabaye replacement and a backup CB. We will get none, try and sign a few in January, have more players to replace next summer and will forever be playing catchup
Guest Phil K
The very definition of an 'at least we tried' attempt at a transfer. We need another striker, a winger, potentially a Cabaye replacement and a backup CB. We will get none, try and sign a few in January, have more players to replace next summer and will forever be playing catchup It's more than a bit worrying that we've let a number of players go, (still can't understand the Perch one) but NOT replaced them in an already weak squad. Maybe they're waiting til last minute, but they haven't exactly done a lot of that over past two years anyways with "late signings" and the performance so far has been abysmal. This Gomis deal has made us a laughing stock. First with the Lyon Prez, then the agent, then Marseille, (I'm baffled how could they stop the deal ? Its got nothing to do with them....how can they "block" the deal ??) then the agent at it AGAIN....
Teasy
The very definition of an 'at least we tried' attempt at a transfer. What are you on about man? We've put in various offers until we've finally got a fee agreed. We've then agreed terms with the player and the only thing stopping it is complications on Lyons side and agents demands. Unless you've re-written the definition of "at least we tried" than no its nowt like it at all.
Tiresias
When the window shuts we'll have brought noone else in and Pardew will explain we were unlucky and screwed over by OL, when we should have just fucking moved on when it became clear it's not a goer Or we'll get him over the line, and then say we ran out of time to get any other business done. Ok misunderstanding then. I thought you meant the attempt to get Gomis was somehow not genuine just to make it look like we were after players but without having to sign any of them. If we wait until the window shuts for Gomis and miss out on targets in other positions then there's no excuse for that (especially if its a winger since we certainly still need one with our without Gomis). No reason what so ever people can't negotiate for two different players at the same time. Also maybe they don't believe its not a goer, personally I see every possibility of it still going through. Two clubs are after him, one can't afford him and the club selling absolutely have to sell him in this window.
LFEE
@GFN_France: Confirmed: we understand that talks between Lyon and Aliadiere's representatives have taken place regarding a possible transfer. #FCL #OL Maybe a Lopez or Gomis replacement... Pilko
Probably replacing Lopez tbh.
