Gomis agrees to lower salary demands for Newcastle move

Big news coming in late today. We understand that discussions between Gomis and Newcastle have gone well and the player has now agreed to lower wage demands including a lower signing bonus. These wages were not a problem in the past, but the overall package has now been lowered. The agent fees are now expected to be lowered this time to try to force a move through and are expected to be agreed as we understand that Gomis himself has asked his agent to do this. It is not 100% definite that this will happen, but it is likely.

Newcastle are still yet to fix the 5% transfer fee clause due to St Etienne which was a problem the first time around

Lyon and Newcastle are still yet to agree a fee this time around and it is unknown whether this can been done in time as Aulas’ attitude towards Gomis appears to have changed with the President announcing that the player could be re-instated into the first team squad.

We are still a long way off a deal, but it appears that it is one step in the right direction for Newcastle

Is Aulas really going to risk £8m for the sake of paying out a £400k sell on fee? Seems like Gomis isn't going to agree a new contract so is he worth £4m for half a season or £8m for a whole one (plus another £3m in wages)?

Don't think GFN are a good source tbh.

Don't they just collate more reputable French media outlets rather than break news themselves?

from what I've seenthey collate all French media outlets reputable and not so much. So take with a silo full of salt

considering anyone outside of france can grab him for nowt in the next window (admittedly to move in jan) that he'd try and get what he can now for a player they won't play until he signs a contract and he doesn't plan to do so and they've lost the CL cash which they probably budgeted for. Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face line of thinking from Aulas he's trying to act as if he's in a position of strength when its the exact opposite.

Get French Football ‏@GFN_France 42s

READ: Bafetimbi Gomis lowers wage package for Newcastle move. He has asked his agent to lower fees as well: http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2013/gomis-agrees-to-lower-salary-demands-for-newcastle-move/ … #NUFC #OL

Well that is very good news, get the feeling that is what held up more than anything.

Don't let sense or logic get in the way of French entitlement and principle. There is only one winner.

Just did some Dennis Wise scouting again, really want him based on about 4 minutes of video

He's a beast physically which is an option we don't have other than the immoveable object and Shola's not immoveable for the right reasons. Looks like a good option with the likes of Remy, Cisse, Gouffran, Ben Arfa and Marveaux playing around him. Kanji was just talking about someone you can play a ball to who is capable of actually holding it up and letting others get forward and join attacks, this lad certainly looks strong.

Also looks to keep up with play, find space and can smash the ball home with some venom. Loves an outside of the right boot apparently.
