Gomis agrees to lower salary demands for Newcastle move

Big news coming in late today. We understand that discussions between Gomis and Newcastle have gone well and the player has now agreed to lower wage demands including a lower signing bonus. These wages were not a problem in the past, but the overall package has now been lowered. The agent fees are now expected to be lowered this time to try to force a move through and are expected to be agreed as we understand that Gomis himself has asked his agent to do this. It is not 100% definite that this will happen, but it is likely.

Newcastle are still yet to fix the 5% transfer fee clause due to St Etienne which was a problem the first time around

Lyon and Newcastle are still yet to agree a fee this time around and it is unknown whether this can been done in time as Aulas’ attitude towards Gomis appears to have changed with the President announcing that the player could be re-instated into the first team squad.

We are still a long way off a deal, but it appears that it is one step in the right direction for Newcastle

Is Aulas really going to risk £8m for the sake of paying out a £400k sell on fee? Seems like Gomis isn't going to agree a new contract so is he worth £4m for half a season or £8m for a whole one (plus another £3m in wages)?
