Sick of trawling through that annoying Realistic Transfer Targets topic so I posted this story seperately.

Paris Saint Germain star Amara Diane has admitted he would jump at the chance to join Newcastle United.

The Ivory Coast star has been linked with a move to Tyneside after Kevin Keegan checked on him personally earlier this month.

The 25-year-old has now told skysports.com that he would love to make the move to England.

"Kevin Keegan is a dream coach, his team always plays offensive football and playing in England would be a great opportunity," he told skysports.com.

"I know there is some contact between the two clubs and if an agreement is reached, I will go to Newcastle.

"To play with Michael Owen would be great and there is also Obafemi Martins who is a top striker.

"The Premier League is attractive and some of my Ivorian friends are there so I would be in good company."

Newcastle are seemingly taking a keen interest in the French market with St Etienne's Bafetimbi Gomis also thought to high on Keegan's list of targets.

Keegan is understood to have been in France last weekend to check on potential new signings and he attended the PSG-St Etienne clash with both Diane and Gomis playing - but neither scored.

I would like to think that the money we're paying Wise/Vetere/Jimenez, it wouldn't be so much a lottery :undecided:

Judging from the statistics (i.e. I could be wrong) but as I said in the other thread, if we are genuinely interested, it may be that we are looking to replace/upgrade Shola.

Keegan got through eight strikers one season, so I think he could be looking for some reliable back up in addition to extra quality in that area.

Divide minutes by 90 and you get 14 games, or 1 goal every 2.8 games

Neither were any of our strikers this season.

True, so do we need more of the same? it seems like he blasted onto the scene then faded away, 26 goals in 34 games in his first season, down to 5 in 22 this season.

No way we are in for this guy. At most an alright player but is already 25 and really isn't anything special. We were clearly having a look at Gomis and not this bloke.

I did watch PSG live at the Emirates tournament last summer and they did feature some very impressive youngsters but they were much younger and probably haven't been as involved with the first team in Ligue 1 this year.
