Jack Flash
Nile Ranger has been handed a chance to resurrect his Newcastle United career after being included in Alan Pardew's squad for Sunday's trip to Southampton. And the striker - who started his career with the Saints before moving to Tyneside - has revealed how a new, improved attitude and work ethic has put him back into senior contention following his return from injury this month. Ranger scored on his first Magpies appearance since March when the under-21s drew with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday night and put in an eye-catching display in front of his manager, who was watching from the stands. The 21-year-old has played more than 50 times for Newcastle since making his debut in the Championship title-winning season of 2009/10 but fell out of favour with Pardew and failed to make an appearance in the Barclays Premier League last term. Part of the reason for that was because of the ex-England under-19 international's time-keeping but having recovered from a knee problem and reported to the training ground on time for the last few weeks, he will travel to St. Mary's this weekend. "My punctuality hasn't been the best and the gaffer said it would be six weeks of training with the Reserves and that I wouldn't be in his squads until further notice," Ranger admitted in an exclusive nufc.co.uk interview. "So I've just been getting in on time, training and putting my head down and doing what I do best. I'll just keep putting my head down and grafting." Last season, Ranger spent time on loan with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, helping the Owls gain promotion to the Championship by scoring the crucial second goal in a victory over Wycombe on the final day of the season. And he said: "I went there because I needed some games, so they called me up and I went there, played a few games and got a few goals. "I got a goal on the most important day which got them promoted. They were a good team who worked hard but it's always good to come back to your home club."

hakka
Can't believe we are turning to this chump. But hey, what else can we do at the moment?
AlanSkÃrare
Has always had ability and used to be a handful when he came on. Unbelivable if he actually turns it around. Probably the paciest senior striker we have.

Probably the paciest senior striker we have. Crikey, this isn't what I remember. I thought he was quite slow. He was a handful physically and was not bad at receiving the ball and laying it on with a simple pass. But when running at goal he was quite clueless and on other occasions he was making off the ball runs out of sync with the flow of play.
AyeDubbleYoo
I thought he looked a decent player, it was his off-field stuff that fucked him. Remember him giving Liverpool a very hard time.
Guest Vinkent
Only thing I remember is me nearly bursting a blood vessel screaming at him to run towards goal with the ball at Villa two years ago.
Belfast Boy
Still find it staggering that he has over 50 appearances
TaylorJ_01
He's got decent attributes to cause problems - pace and power. Maybe he'll be hyped to play southampton since they sacked him.
hakka
I thought he looked a decent player, it was his off-field stuff that fucked him. Remember him giving Liverpool a very hard time. I thought that Liverpool sub cameo and the Chelsea goal was the only thing that he did well. Remember his start against Bolton, he couldn't really offer anything meaningful. They key thing that looked good for him was that he physically could match other players and he didn't mind taking the ball to feet under pressure and moving it on. Other than that he had a lot to learn. His finishing was poor with the chances he had.
loki679
Almost scored a cracker in the four four with Arsenal if i remember. One touch to control it beautifully past his marker then hammered it for the top corner.

David Icke - Son of God
Remember thinking we had a real prospect on our hands after seeing him in the Championship against Sheff Wed at home. He played up top against Leicester at home on his tod and put in a brilliant performance. Won MOTM and the press started linking him with Man City the next day IIRC
ujpest doza
I thought he looked a decent player, it was his off-field stuff that fucked him. Remember him giving Liverpool a very hard time. And Arsenal in the 4-4 game.
Wullie
I thought he looked a decent player, it was his off-field stuff that fucked him. Remember him giving Liverpool a very hard time. And Arsenal in the 4-4 game. And the 1-0 at the Emirates, came on and turned Koscielny straight away, who dragged him down and got sent off.
Parky
Putting aside his off pitch behaviour it's clear he's quite a talented player. If someone can get hold of him at the club and set him straight he could still be an asset.
Dave
Jesus. Sign of the times I suppose. Bet Pardew's delighted he has to include this knacker.

Skirge
As much of a twat he is in life, on the pitch that twatness really can trouble defenders. Shame it won't be an opportunity he uses to kick start his career, there will be no epiphany here.
Sifu
I would say good luck to him but I can't, being the cunt that he is. If he puts in a somewhat decent shift (if he plays that is), then fair play but my opinion of him wouldn't change.
