olliemort
Given Beye Colocini Taylor/Faye Enrique/Zog Jonas Guthrie/Faye Duff/Guthrie Owen Viduka Martins Depends on the opposition e.g against Man U I would play Enrique left back as he would be better defensively than Zog and I would start Faye in dm as it would provide more cover for our centre backs. But when we are playing the bottom half teams who we would be looking to dominate for the majority of the game I would put Faye back in centre back and play Guthrie as a dm and play Zog as a lb because hes much better going forward than Enrique. Kev
Its funny how Duff looked good against Hartlepool, Psv and Valencia. But abysmal against Doncaster Mallorca And H.Berlin. Im still undecided on him, N'Zogbia over duff anyday of the week. Hes younger, fitter, more abilily, can cross a ball and knows how to take people on without having to turn back. Given Beye Taylor Faye Enrique Milner Guthrie N'Zogbia Gutierrez Owen Martins Kev, Don't you expect Coloccini to start? I dont think there is anyone called Coloccini in our squad atm, so i doubt anyone called that could play. stop trying to look clever daft lad, you just look like a f***ing idiot im right, so all you lot on here are the fucking idiots for naming him when we havnt even signed him yet. and why comment back? trying to act big? tosser. Jamie
Given Beye Coloccini Taylor Enrique Guthrie Jonas Duff Owen Viduka Martins N'Zogbia and Faye pushing hard for first-team spots in that one - could also move Faye, Butt or Coloccini into CM. To be honest, a lot of it will depend on form, which is why Duff is in there for now. Could all change mind. That'll do for me, even though its too attacking. That would be a quality side at home to a weaker team like. I think this thread has cheered people up somewhat
Yorkie
Harper Beye Coloccini Faye Enrique Guthrie Jonas Barton Owen Viduka Martins Aye, seems the most obvious for me - appears to be the most picked aswell from people. We know for a fact that the formation can work like an absolute treat; only, that team is a serious upgrade on last season's very effective one. Looks good. I'd be tempted to put Zoggy in Barton's position if we're less concerned about being on the backfoot/tracking back, even Enrique's actually. Zoggy looked good with lots of space infront of him the other day, and Jonas looked very comfortable roaming around more narrowly for what it's worth. I hope Barton's banning thing gets resolved pretty soon - might knock us one side of the fence re: signing another centre-mid.
dcmk
i would start N'zogbia against Man Utd at left back. Better going forward and without Ronaldo we may be able to get at them with a Gary Neville not in the greatest shape he has ever been in. But agree with Best XI anyhow

Normally hugely against any thought of playing N'Zogbia at Left-Back but I would agree with you on those points.

NoU
I don't think playing a 4-3-3 with a midfield consisting of two natural wingers and an attacking midfielder (Guthrie) like alot of people are suggesting, would work against alot of teams + I think that it wouldn't make sense leaving Butt out (at least at the start of the season) as he was one of our most consistent players last season and is certainly one of our most experienced. in a 4-3-3 Given Beye Faye Coloccini Enrique Jonas Butt Guthrie Owen Martins Viduka 4-4-2 Given Beye Faye Coloccini Enrique Spiderman Butt Guthrie N'Zogbia Viduka Owen
toptoon
Depends on the opposition i.e. vs Villa's Carew (or other 'Big Man Strikers) I'd play Faye CB but otherwise i'd go. Given Beye Taylor Colo/Faye Enrique/Zoggy Faye/Colo Jonas Zoggy/Guthrie Owen Milner Martins Barton who i really rate (as a player) and Duff are close and just need to force their way in with good performances when given the chance. I'd like to see more of Bassong and Guthrie. There is a rumour that Colo may be played DM, interesting, could be good, in which case Faye partners Tayls at CB. I don't rate Viduka, good when he has space and given chances, but overall just way too slow and surprisingly weak at getting up and challenging for a big lad, very easily marked out the game if CB's stay tight, which happened alot last season. I think a few are expecting alot of him and will be disapointed. Absolutley gutted if Smith plays...sell him or stick him in the reserves until he's alot better. Also sick of Butt giving the ball away, i'd play Geremi ahead of him and Guthrie and Barton ahead of Geremi
Guest NUFCrichard
If we play with a 3 man midfield consisting of 2 wingers and 1 central midfielder (often not even a very defensive CM in many of the suggested teams) we will get murdered in a lot of games. It might be entertaining football when we have the ball but as no one will be winning it for us we will concede so many goals and be left beating the bottom few teams easily whilst getting beaten comfortably by well balanced teams like Everton, Villa, Portsmouth and the top 4. I would play as our most competitive starting 11 Given Beye Faye Coloccini Enrique Jonas Butt Barton N'Zog Owen Martins

Guest
Given Beye Faye Taylor Enrique Coloccini Gutierrez Duff/N'Zogbia Owen Martins Viduka Really not keen on the idea of a specialist centre-back, and specialist centre-forward being our two midfielders like. If you're playing that team, I'd switch Colo & Faye around.
Northern Monkey
Given Beye Taylor Faye Enrique Milner Guthrie N'Zogbia Gutierrez Owen Martins You rate Faye above Coloccini? FUCK. I meant to overype that, i copied off someone else for speed. Faye is an absolute journeyman pro, no doubt about it. We don't know how good Coloccini will be yet, but lets face it, he's going to be better than Faye/Cacapa, who are on a level.
