Why is Wise getting so much stick ?

I was under the impression his job was just to find good deals on good players and he seems to have done that along with Jimenez.

KK is right however that not enough has been done re:players.

But disagree with KK on Barton, and STRONGLY on Smith.

Would've been interesting to see if KK was quite so loyal in January if the squad had been in any way adequate

But disagree with KK on Barton, and STRONGLY on Smith.

I don't think it's so much the players as the principle though.

Do you think if they told him they had Gerrard and Berbatov lined up as replacements (examples deliberately exaggerated to emaphasise the point) he would have given a shit about letting Smith and Barton go?

You can't expect any manager to be happy with seeing players shipped out without their say-so and either not being replaced, or replaced with others he hasn't heard of and/or had no say in. Seems to me a lack of common courtesy and communication as much as anything else.

I looked into this to try and get some answers. When Mort left the nufc website had a press release stating Llambias is Managing Director supported by an Operations Director. That statement to me means llambias is in charge of running the "business" side of our club. The same article goes on to say Wise is Executive Director (Football). To me that means Wise heads up the footballing side (including recruitment).

Jiminez is very good firends with both Wise and Ashley. His background is in property and he is a millionaire. He is considered a super agent type guy who has many contacts and makes things happen. He has very good spanish connections (he's VP Recruitment). Vetere (Technical Co-ordinator) is kind of a transfer consultant who works for us during the transfer windows.

Looking from the outside and the job titles Wise is head guy when it comes to Recruitment so the buck stops with him.

And the nature of the buck this summer was a difficult one

The lads he's brought in seem on first impressions to be just what we needed and have been delivered at a low cost - therefore well played Goggly Eyes.

But I think most people would have liked to have seen a couple more bodies through the door - black mark Wisey.

The player sales have all made sense imo, and only Milner would have been likely to see significant playing time this season.

However, I do believe that players out of the door should always be down to the manager as he is the one who sees them day in and day out.

The fact is, WE don't know what's been going on behind the scenes and what was said on Monday. Until things are cleared up and we have some quotes from the people themselves, we don't know who is to blame.

As for the bits in bold above:

You refer to the players on Wise's, I would have thought that they should have been Keegan's choices as in:

KK: "Excuse me executive management team"

"Yes, can we help?"

KK: "Yes well, I think we're a bit short in x and x positions, would you be able to produce some ideas for me and actually I've already thought of x and x"

"Yes, here's a list of players we've scouted for x and x + vids, reports, etc"

KK: "Thanks very much, I'll have that one and that one. Will you sort it out for me?"

"Yes, no problem Kevin, we'll let you know when they've signed."

Was the way I saw it working, but evidently not. Who is responsible for this I'm sure we'll find out soon.

Cheers for posting that - which helps clear up some of the confusion on roles.

If that is true, and Wise is in charge of overall recruitment at the club, then I'll say what I said in another thread - I dont see what qualifies him for such a role?

Two/three managerial jobs at lower league teams, albeit done well??

Also, just to add Llambias has NO footballing background his background is in casinos so my guess is he makes sure club is ready for the customers on match days and the like. He might at the end of the day have to rubber stamp deals depending on what transfer budget the club has but these deals will be presented no doubt to him by Wise.

Those who think that Wise's role of Executive Director (Football) is JUST to bringing in kids and develop the youth set-up need to think again.

I think its obvious to us all that Keegan has been kept in the dark regarding transfers despite being told he would have final say etc. This is similar to the West Ham / Cubishly senario.

The rumour was that Dennis Wise was pissed in a wine bar at the weekend bragging about getting £1 million a year, running the club and saying that Keegan was his puppet.

excellent point raised on the legends.

how would wise and poyet have reacted at leeds, if ken bates had appointed someone above them to start buying and selling players, behind thier backs.

Probably the same as Ray Wilkins did when Keegan accepted the role from Al Fayed to do the same thing at Fulham.
