"Woefully short on numbers" is a bit of an exaggeration to be fair.

tbf, there's not much written about this situation one way or another that isn't ridiculous hyperbole these days.

"SHOOT ASHLEY IN THE FACE WITH A ROTTWEILER, SACK WISE, COME BACK KK", blah blah blah.  It's all gotten rather boring.

No, what's got boring is the fact that we have bent over and taken it up the arses from the club for the last 10 years or so.

That's the point though isn't it, it's a different regime now and they shou;dn't have to take the backlash for what has gone before them - no matter how bad it was.

The backlash is nothing to do with previous regimes it's of their own making.

Totally ignoring key areas we needed cover.

Undermining the Manager forcing him to resign.

Screwing up season tickets and ripping fans off with the vision they thought they were buying into over the next 3 years.

Lack of communication and respect for the paying public.

Disrupting the dressing room with word that everyone was up for sale.

I'd say quite a few of their own there like.

I don't want to use this thread to go through all of those points again, as it's obvious people just have opposite viewpoints on a lot of that - both based on a lot of speculation and not a lot of fact.

All I'm saying is that the overly-dramatic reaction to what has happened this week has a lot to do with what has gone before... Souness, Allardyce, our decline over recent seasons.

Why else would anyone mention the last 10 years? As far as I'm concerned that has nothing to do with what is happening now.

I think the reason people are referring to the last 10 years is because despite the complete change of ownership/personnel, absolutely nothing has changed. We are still completely fucked up as a football club.

If you had gone to the moon for 2 years, in coming back, you would have thought that the ownership hadnt changed at all.

I would guess that when Ashley came in,nearly everyone hoped it would be an end of the choas that seemed to constantly surround.

Basically, nothing has changed nor seemingly impreoved with Ashley being in charge.

A spokesman for Indian businessman Anil Ambani has denied that he has launched a takeover bid for Newcastle.

Billionaire Ambani, estimated to be the sixth richest person in the world, has long been linked with an interest in the troubled Tyneside club.

Ambani, who is said to be a Magpies fan, was reportedly ready to make his move after the club plunged into further turmoil under Mike Ashley's reign following Kevin Keegan's decision to quit the club last week.

However, Ambani's official spokesman has denied that talks are under way with Ashley about purchasing the club.

"We have denied this earlier and we have no plans to take over Newcastle United or any other English club," head of Corporate Communications for Ambani's parent group Reliance, Gaurav Wahi, told The Journal.

Inaccurate

"All these media reports are inaccurate.

"Our position is that nothing has changed and we have been wondering why these stories keep surfacing in England.

"We have not expressed interest in Newcastle. There is nothing in the latest stories. It's a non-starter."

A source close to DIC - the investment arm of the Dubai Government who tried to buy Liverpool - has also told The Journal that they have no interest in Newcastle.

The reason i was asking dumb cunts.

Denied

A spokesman for the Indian businessman Anil Ambani

has poured cold water on reports linking him to a bid for Newcastle United:

"Our position is that nothing has changed and we have been wondering why these stories keep surfacing in England.

"We have not expressed interest in Newcastle. There is nothing in the latest stories. It's a non-starter. As of now there is no interest, although I cannot speculate on what may be the future plans of my management."

From .Com

There have been fresh quotes since then, saying that those quotes are false.

Is that true

if he does want to buy the club i dont think he is going to announce it, surely it will push the price higher

i just want a new owner

Cant see anyone buying the club at the moment.

Quite, why would they. They'd have to be extremely wary that there's every chance they would end up just as crucified as Ashley for an investment that is never going to make you much money, so if not for fun, is all about brand recognition or prestige. Massive gamble as far as this club is concerned.

Got to agree, clinging to the hope of a buyout but it's just not going to happen :(

I'm not so sure - you don't have to be "investor of the year" to realise that you should buy when things are down, and sell when they are up, and things could hardly be more down at NUFC than they are at the moment. In this context, it would seem like the ideal time for an outside interest to make a move.

As to why Ashley would be prepared to sell, well that hardly needs spelling out, as the "fun" he's allegedly been seeking all along has completely evaporated, and from here on in he's as likely to be buying rounds of ammunition to fend off the fans, as rounds of drinks to celebrate with them.

Btw, I'm not saying that I think a takeover will happen, but I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility.

I hope you're right. I've just become acustomed to good things not happening to us. Even when we were bought out by a Billionaire, he proved to be tighther than a ducks behind. This story was just too good to be true.
