Major sales: Shay Given (undiscl. to Manchester City), Charles N'Zogbia (swap deal to Wigan). Rather than sending silly e-mails to Sky Sports News, perhaps Mike Ashley should have been wondering how he could justify a club deep in relegation trouble making a profit in the transfer window. They clearly tried to buy - Darren Bent and Michael Johnson among their targets - but you wonder why they were trying so hard on February 2 rather than January 2. But we have 8 first team strikers (with only one not in full training) Martins, Ameobi, Smith, Xisco, Viduka, Lovenkrands, Carrol, Owen and the Ranger! About two years ago in the spring, I was walking past a nice hotel in a neighborhood when some middle-aged man wearing a Newcastle tracksuit popped out of the lobby. Thought it could be some random bloke who had bought a tracksuit, but his top was initialed (like the stuff the coaching staff wears on matchday) so I suppose he might have been someone connected to the club.
