Jose Enrique out for at least three weeks with hamstring injury

Really hope his injury isn't serious. He was tearing them apart before he had to go off.

Depending on how bad the injury is, I reckon we should try and bring in Danny Fox on loan from Celtic.

Would be a good idea. The fact we've got this far riding our luck with one experienced LB should be a blessing. Though people are quite happy with Kadar.

Kadar's too good for this league. Impeccable again, but for a wayward clearance from his own corner (very similar to that game where he did almost exactly the same thing, and we conceded as a result - can't remember who it was against tbh)... which wasn't really his fault cos Jonas didn't make himself available for the pass. But aye - aside from that he was really good. And it's clear he can play right across the defense.

The kid was solid tonight but nothing special. Wouldn't say he can play on the right side of defence he kept coming inside onto his left foot & nearly gave the ball away on the edge of the box as a result. Good as cover but I wouldn't want him starting every week.

He wasn't as assured on the right as he was the left, but he's a very sensible player. He's obviously got a touch of genuine quality about him, cos there was this tasty little backheel early on; but it was a last resort, sort of thing. Like i said in the match thread, he knows when to defend ugly and when to be more 'inventive', for want of a better word.

Saying that, from what i've seen, he's definitely a centre-back, rather than a full-back. He was pretty sheepish going forward, which you can no doubt get away with in the reserve leagues - but he didn't really have any effect tonight. Though that's comparing him to Jose, which would be unfair.

The truth is, i've just not seen him play a bad game - at all. Has he even made one rick? He looks beyond comfortable in this division. He's got the benefit of some very good defenders around him, but tonight was a bit different cos we were mismatched and had lost bodies. Totally happy having him as third our fourth choice.

Yeah I agree he's a little tentative when it comes to attacking but when your used to Jose bombing on, and our over reliance on him doing so, this becomes more apparent. I think centre half will be his eventual position but he's only young and each game is a learning curve and some more experience in the bag.

I just love how easily José Enrique drifts into the edge of the opposition box. He's the Dani Alves of this league. To be honest your left wing has always been the best part of your team the 3 games I have watched this season (Sheff Utd, Cardiff, WBA at home).

no doubt our lw is the strongest part but hopefully routiledge will help create that on the right as well and give simpson more license to attack

JOSE Enrique intends to play in every Newcastle United game for the rest of the season as he puts an end to any doubts about his suitability for English football.

Enrique was once thought to be too lightweight to handle the pace and power of football in this country as both Sam Allardyce – the manager who signed him – and Joe Kinnear questioned his conditioning.

However, the 23-year-old – a £6.3m signing from Villareal in 2007 – has been brilliant this season and is one of the front-runners to become Newcastle’s player of the season, having proved more than capable of handling himself in the Championship.

As the only specialist left-back in Chris Hughton’s squad, marathon man Enrique does not want to be given a rest as he looks to break the 50-game barrier.

He said: “I want to play 50 games this season.

“That is one of my ambitions, although I never thought I would be saying that when I came to England. When I first arrived I needed to be stronger and fitter – it was hard for me at first, but now I feel good.

“It took me a bit of time to get used to the style of football, but I am very happy in England and very happy playing for Newcastle. I have been the only

left-back in the squad all season and thankfully I have avoided injuries. I hope that continues, because I think to play 50 games in a season is a big achievement for any player. I have never played that many games before, but I think I have only missed one or two cup games this season. I still feel good, there are no problems for me.”

Enrique has already made 25 appearances for the Magpies this season and, with 23 games left to play, he does not sign up to the view the FA Cup is a distraction for the team following the comprehensive 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday night.

thats just asking for a broken leg.

Dam it Madras!

On the positive, he's got a great attitude so if there is anyone who can get themselves fit quite quickly without fuss it will be Enrique.

But we can't afford to risk him for the sake of an extra weeks rest.

i reckon it was a pull not a twinge and will be a 4-6 week job,  has a history of hamstring trouble so doubt he'll be rushed back.

I had a grade two hamstrong strain and I was back playing within 4 weeks, without the help of a professional football club to get me fit again. He should be out for a couple of weeks, max, unless it's a grade three.

The level of fitness and football he has to get back to it huge though, its not Sunday park football (well for some it isn't)

must have been a real boost hearing nearly 40000 singing his name when he came off. really has become a big fans favourite not just for his ability but also his attitude. seems a right canny lad. can't for him to get a goal  - will eclipse the reaction Ranger got.
