part of robsons reign as manager era was better than keegan era as a player.

Bobby did well as boss, for which i'm thankful.

However, when KK signed for us as a player, it was a world superstar joining MY club. A club that had struggled for years with a team of relative nobodies.

Crowds doubled. The buzz around the City was immense. I thought i was dreaming when he ran out of that tunnel in OUR black and white stripes. Unforgetable!

that day, against QPR, the atmoshpere in strawberry place was buzzing, from about 10am, it was thronging, the air was electric, you could feel the anticipation through your body.

A truley significant day in the history of the club.

i know,i was there, but in terms of the club getting somewhere and me thinking "this is it" it has to be robsons time as manager over keegans as a player.

people forget that for all the keegan stuff first season as player...we didn't go up, second season we didn't even go yp as champs and  i wasn't even certain we'd stop up,even before cox walked. exciting certainly but i never thought it meant the club was reaching its potential of the time.

Any newcastle fan who can't love keegan needs to take a look at themselves. There's only one person who's been associated with the club in my lifetime I love more, and even he didn't get us playing football as well as we did under King Kev.

Some so-called fans cringe at KK's rant but for me it was one of the single most greatest examples of someone caring in football I've ever witnessed and it was made all the more remarkable because it wasn't coming from a fan or from the stands but the manager and it still makes the hairs on my neck stand up and gives me shivers whenever I hear it.

KK wasn't just the manager there but one of us, a true fan who like all us would have loved to beat them, to win that title and he almost did it. When I first saw that any worries about my team evaporated in an instant because in KK we had someone who cared as much as we did and arguably more, someone who shared the passion we do for our club and badge, someone who feels something more for the club than just being the manager, it was deep rooted with KK like it is with us.

Compare the relatively mooted examples of "passion" and "caring" today from players and managers in their dugouts alike and KK's rant represented something more to me. He was feeling what I felt, he said what I thought deep inside and he displayed it in a way that had he not been KK or the manager, he could have easily been ME on the stands. You won't see such a show of emotion and caring from any manager out there regardless of their association with their respective club.

But still... KK doesn't love Newcastle or care about it otherwise he wouldn't have walked out.

f*** off!

For me KK isn't the legend he is because of the football we played, the players he signed or the heights we reached but because he cared about the club just like I do, like we all do.

When you do that with fans like us; and when you do things like that about a man like Kevin Keegan....

f*** OFF ASHLEY & CO!

Who are the etc that can do miracles?

him, shearer and robson

people say keegan is newcastle, but joe harvey did 10x more than these 3 have, harvey captained us to 2 fa cups, was the manager that won us the fairs cup, sadly because of most of the younger fans don't remember what he did to this club

he still fucked off when he hasn't got his own way or when the pressure was on.  The best managers flourish under pressure keegan has bottled it.

Although I don't feel the love for the Keegler that much anymore... What some are saying in this is thread is exactly that they adore him because he is human and doesn't do miracles but did all he could.

I'd agree if that was still all there was to it.

Aye, we can move on. We're all waiting for a suitable replacement for KK, and i hope we get it. In the meantime, i don't see any harm in getting away from the gloom of being a current Newcastle fan, and looking back on happier times.

KK had us enjoy many a good season.

As OM pointed out, Keegan's history. That's as maybe, but he's also an important part of Newcastle Uniteds' history. It shouldn't be forgotten.

If you think he fucked off because the pressure was on this time you're very much as ignorant as your comments have already suggested.

Do you honestly believe it was due to this so-called pressure? Where was this pressure coming from? There wasn't any from the fans that's for certain.

no,not, pressure but he has a reputation for trying power games. is it possible he tried it again and got burned ?

The reason Keegan left was because the only power he had at the club was picking the team. Nothing else. Whats the point in even bothering when some arrogant, cluless c*nts arent letting you do your job....especially when you know 100 Xs more about the club and the game than they do. Keegan was RIGHT to leave imo. Im pretty sure a lot of other managers would've as well.

As I said, whats the point in being a 'manager' when you cant manage? There isnt.

Keegan is a legend at this club- whether people like it or not. He will never be forgotten and will forever be in the Geordie hearts. The funny thing is, not only did we all fall in love with him and Newcastle, the rest of the nation did.
