alpal78
One season wonder. nobody knows but when we talk of potential it could go both ways. He could be England's next main striker or he could just be a one season wonder. That is why taking 30M and getting a player who has been proven at the highest level many seasons over plus 1-2 more players is a really good deal There's also the factor that while Ashley is always one crazy decision from the next, you also get the feeling Carroll's one night out away from his next incident that could end him in jail. Yup I'm gonna be flamed for saying this, but many are glossing over his weaknesses (ability and character) and overstating his strengths because he is a local boy. AyeDubbleYoo
Character can be a weakness for him, but ability certainly isn't. His technique is excellent now.

TBG
I remember seeing him play against Birmingham when they beat us 5-1 in the League Cup a few years ago. At the time he was so awful that I just wanted to punch him, and I was hoping that they wouldn't offer him a pro contract. How times have changed. Aye now he would punch you in the face. Dinho lad
this is why i want to see spurs get fucked in the CL! No point in buying Ben Arfa then selling Carroll.

Dokko
Carroll is here to stay. The club want to build a team around him and the lad himself doesn't want to leave. Spurs are not big enough for them to take him off us, if it were Manu coming in offering £30m i'd be 100 times more worried. Also if I were the board i'd reject all inquiries but listen to all bids, even if its to say to the next bidder we were offered X amount and said no, what makes you think we'll accept your offer? Dave
Where's this £30m figure come from? I remain worried about this. Spurs have now told all and sundry that they want him (if it is old news as that journo points out then today's events are simply to tell the world) and that has to be for a reason. Would Carroll be interested in such a move?
Guest Roger Kint
Was £30m not the figure someone made up after the original 'deal' from that Spurs forum ITK? No Hope in hell Spurs would offer anywhere near that
alpal78
Character can be a weakness for him, but ability certainly isn't. His technique is excellent now. Only when winning the ball in the air, he still has some work to do on ball control, dribbling and shooting. Right now he is the type of striker that will score when he gets decent crosses, and useful for knock ons but he is not able to create things on his own. His shooting consistency also can be improved, like I said very good potential, the best we've had in a long time but far from the finish product. We really need to handle the lad right, get some proper coaches in to really help Carroll come on.

For sure if his agent didn't already know of Spurs interest then he will now and he will definitely benefit from any move and even just from causing unrest. Consortium of one
I watched AC in an England U21 match last fall and I don't think there was a better player on the pitch. He was the focal point of the attack and played the TM perfectly. He just may have begun to round the corner in that game. It can happen to any body. You struggle with something and then it just clicks and you're like, "Hey, I can do this", and from that point on you get confidence and get better, get more confidence and get better. That's how I look at that game that Andy played that day: it was like the switch was flipped on for him.
furney89
I really worry about this whole speculation. Clearly theres been something happening behind the scenes and 'arry is sniffing around. Despite all the denials from 'arry in previous weeks i think they obviously want to make an attempt and i hope that we stay resolute and keep saying no. Its going to be a long january. I'd like to say we wouldn't be tempted to sell carroll but with our owners you just dont know.
LesPaul
I'd like Carroll to come out and say he has no intention of leaving. That would be nice.

Minhosa
I'd like Carroll to come out and say he has no intention of leaving. That would be nice. I think he has on a couple of occasions. Granted, they were before the window but he's not exactly going to do it every time a club are linked. Also, it wouldn't really matter whether he wanted to stay or go tbh. AyeDubbleYoo
What's the betting any Keane/Bentley deal is tied in with Spurtz signing Carroll? More likely the press just concocting a vaguely plausible deal.
Minhosa
What's the betting any Keane/Bentley deal is tied in with Spurtz signing Carroll? Yep - my concern all along. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave us Bentley on loan in return for first option on AC. That will certainly be in their thinking imho.
AyeDubbleYoo
Selling a club Andy Carroll in return for loaning David Bentley would have to go down as one the stupidest transfer deals ever agreed. It would make signing Owen look like a masterpiece.

jdckelly
What's the betting any Keane/Bentley deal is tied in with Spurtz signing Carroll? no doubt thats what they would like but at the end of the day if we came up with cash for either player that was reasonable i'd say they'd sell them without any carroll input
