In response to me asking if any of the trialists are any good, Nile responded 'dere decent'.

Sounds promising indeed. The Nile Ranger stamp of approval.

Sign them up the king had spoken ;)

Well, the last time Kinnear went to a friendly looking for players it just didn't work out, did it?

All he saw was 20 people in red and blue tops running/waddling around, a man in a black jumper taking photos and some other guy smoking a tab on the sidelines.

It could have easily been Croatia vs England, but it was actually the N-O match. :pow:

League One side Carlisle United have confirmed that they will provide the opposition in a behind-closed-doors game against Newcastle today (Tuesday).

Joe Kinnear was keen to set up an 11-a-side friendly in order to give various trialists and returning squad players

a runout in a game situation.

That includes Joey Barton - who returned from injury as a second half substitute on Saturday - as well as free agent Peter Lovenkrands, who may sign a contract to remain at SJP until the end of the current season.

In addition, it's claimed that a number of younger overseas trialists may play some part in the game, including some, all, or none of the following:

Andras Gosztonyi (18) midfielder from MTK of Hungary.

Per Egil Flo (19) left back from Norwegian club Sogndal.

Even Hovland (19) central defender also from Sogndal.

Jukka Raitala (20) left back from HJK Helsinki of Finland.

An un-named Swedish U21 international midfielder.

PS: No confirmation as yet of the recent reports that United have completed the signing of two youngsters:

16 year-old midfielder Haris Vučkić from NK Domzale of Slovenia and 18 year-old Caio Ferreira from Brazil.
