Dave
Assuming there is something in it, are you happy it's not happened or would you have preferred Bent? I'd have mixed feelings tbh. Good player in, good player out.
Lenny
I'd be furious if Martins went, for any (realistic) reason.
dcmk
Newcastle don't need no bent strikers.
NG32
Martins for me.
matta
not voting here, Not sure how much a crock bent is versus martins. rate them both, but we need a striker that can actually play football and not recieve treatment all year.
oldtype
I love Oba, but he's a permacrock. Amount of niggly injuries he picks up is absurd.
Ronaldo
Martins every time, a lot more potential. But I do rate Bent and actually think they'd make a good partnership
M4
Love Oba too, but realistically this is a tough one. Think I'd edge slightly more towards Martins. But that might be because you know what you have and aren't sure of what you'd get.
La Parka
Martins is more than goals. He strikes fear into our enemies. Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Yorkie
Assuming there is something in it, are you happy it's not happened or would you have preferred Bent? I'd have mixed feelings tbh. Good player in, good player out. Precisely, at best we'd be standing still. Would represent no improvement and whilst Bent isn't slow, we'd have lost a hell of a lot of pace. Aswell as a fans' favourite. Martins, any day of the week. Love the guy to pieces.
LocalHero
Glad it hasn't happened. I like Darren Bent though.
Ronaldo
I love Oba, but he's a permacrock. Amount of niggly injuries he picks up is absurd. not in his first season, or last season to be honest
Guest aoliversaknob
Martins everytime!
Guest The Libertine
bent is "safer" and we need safe for a few years. i'd take the swap.
ikri
Would love to see Bent here, but never at the expense of losing Martins
Mistle17
Martins. Without a doubt. Bent relies too much on confidence, and lets be honest, when you play for Newcastle United you cant afford to have fragile confidence. Alos, Oba gives us that spark; that burst of pace and can totally change a game at the toss of a hat. Bent cant do that. Oba is also better in the air (despite his size) and is generally more exciting to watch. Darren Bent is (on his day) a very good player and at times a lethal finisher, but Martins is a hero on Tyneside.....I'd hate to see him leave. TRon
Both. It should be happening as well.
Cajun
I rate Bent but I prefer Martins.
geordieglory
I think Bent will score you more goals. Whether this would compensate for his inferior contribution to build-up play is probably the main issue for debate here, but on balance I think it would. So I'd prefer to have Bent rather than Oba. Guest neesy111
bent martins's has been injured or unavailable too much the last 2 seasons, been out more than owen
Yorkie
I love Oba, but he's a permacrock. Amount of niggly injuries he picks up is absurd. not in his first season, or last season to be honest Agreed. Ridiculous comment. 'As perma-crocked as Owen', in the other thread aswell. Mistle17
Sell Owen buy Bent..
Taylor Swift
I love Oba, but he's a permacrock. Amount of niggly injuries he picks up is absurd. Umm, what? He missed only 5 league games in his first season and only 7 last season. And last season was when he was away for the ANC and was on the bench when Allardyce was here. This is the only season that he's been injured more than once. http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/players/2419/obafemi_martins_injury.html?affid=77 8 injuries in 3 years, two of which happened after the season ended. Ridiculous to call him a perma-crock. You have a very short memory.
Ronaldo
can someone on this board name me one decent provider that Martins has played with in his time here? The fact he came away with 17 goals in 06-07 was nowt short of heroic
MaKoo
F**K that, I hope Martins stays But you never know with Mike Ashley, maybe martins are on a big salary and Ashley wants rid. But if we get Bent without Martins leaving, It's ok..
