Skirge Posted March 4, 2009 Share Posted March 4, 2009 We need Oba's pace as high up the pitch as possible, no point having him outwide or their defence gets an easier ride if he is deep. His pace scares defenders the last place they want him in on their shoulder, trouble is if he is the lone striker holding the ball up is not something he is great at, mind I have not seen much evidence in Viduka's time here that he can hold the ball up to and we all know Shola cannot do it. So maybe a 4-4-2 is our only option and will have to struggle ith what ever weak CM pairing we can muster. I would love to be able to sit a man infront of the back four to give that extra cover and a man to close down the likes of Scholes to limit their long range efforts but we jsut do not have the right players fit. Jonas + Enrique should be able to handle Ronaldo as well IMO. Still don't think we'll win, but could do OK if these individual battles work our way. Hughton needs to give these lads the mentality they can compete with Man United, get in amongst them and stop their flow and rhythm. Far too often we’re beaten before we get on the pitch. Unfortunately I can see his team talk going something like: 'Well lads they have a group of good players, no one will blame you if you let a few in, there's no shame in that.'
