Sammy to save the day, then unleash hell, then be banned for life.

Kaleveld got away down the right as he barged past Perch and played a perfect low cross along the ground for Robert to tap home at the far post.

Amazing.

He's been subbed at half-time, too. Wonder if Pedro's gone all John Sitton on his ass and sacked the useless prick.

Anyone else going to the reserves match in Holland today?

Any news on how Cabaye performed?

Hopefully this guy can give us an update next time he's online.

The following was the response to the same question about Cabaye.

danking11 Dan King

@ @craigynic Tidy, set up Barton's goal by winning possession and clever pass, although he also gave the ball away for one of their goals

Right, at work now so a good time to share some thoughts about last nights match.

Starting Lineup 4-4-2( from the left): Soderberg, Dummet, Henderson, Perch, McDermott, Moyo, Barton ©, Cabaye, Routledge, Ranger, Xisco.

Soderberg: Not at fault for any of their goals, erratic kicking, made one decent save in the second half.

Perch: Gave them a goal. Completely outplayed by their number 9( reasonably strong and pacey striker). Replaced by Richardson at half time who looked half decent(football wise that is)

Dummett: Played a decent game. Tried to get forward a bit in the first half linking up reasonably well with Moyo on the left side.

Cabaye: Looked pretty awful tbh. At fault for their first goal with a horrible attempt at a cross in his own half. Looked grumpy and made a few heavy challenges. Replaced by Amebobi after about 60 minutes.

Ameobi: Involved in almost everything after he came on. Played down the right wing. Tried a couple of shots and after seeing them I now completely understand the pitch invasion after he scored against Darlo as it will most likely never happen again. Still made a good impression, good on the ball but didn't really seem to know what to do with it when he got into good positions.  ,

J.Henderson: Played alright without any big mistakes but still troubled a bit by pace and strength of some of the Dutch amateurs which isnt really a great sign.

McDermott:  Same as Henderson really.

Barton: Scored the first goal of the game. Deflected shot from right outside the penalty box, unsure if it would've gone in without the deflection. Played center midfield and his passing was very erratic. Hilarious dive for the penalty. Sent the keeper the wrong way with a clean strike of the ball but hit the post to his right and it bounced out. Turned sour after a couple of heavy challenges and realising the ref was shit. Started to foul everything that came in his way, got booked and got subbed straight after(approx 70 mins). Inman came on and did nothing worth mentioning really.

Moyo: Played left wing and hugged the touchline giving us a bit of width. Plenty of good involvements in the first half but invisble in the second. Looked pacey and with a bit of skill to go with it. On a less positive note he looked very light and the wind almost blew him over a couple of times. Raw but one of few that showed a bit of skill.

Ranger: Seemed to make an effort in the first half especially closing down defenders. Didn't get one decent cross to work with. Involved in the first goal. Got into some decent positions but looked completely clueless as to what to do with the final ball.  Subbed for Airey around the hour mark. Airey ran a lot. Not much more to say about his half hour on the pitch.

Xisco: Looked half decent with the ball in his feet, doesnt exactly chase defenders Bellamy style. Weird decision making. Seems to have zero confidence and looked genuinely happy after he got subbed and could sit on the bench without being abused by the coach(the "other one" not Beardsley) and some of his teammates.  Donaldson came on with about 25 to go. Decent finish to make it 2-2 with about 15 minutes left to play. Might score 8-10 as a striker in the Dutch Third Division by the looks of hit. Found his level. Brilliant.

Routledge: Lightning fast. Shit passing. Doesnt have a clue what to do with ball. Average game. Edmundsson came on for the last hour and set up Donaldson with a nice pass. Looked alright.

Other observations:

Not sure what the name of Beardsleys assistant is but he definitely shouted a lot. 75% off all comments encouraging the left back Dummet and 25% slagging off Xisco for various and at times pretty unwarranted reasons. Beardsley didn't really say anything during the course of the game but was nice enough to give the subs a sheet with instructions before they came on. The look on Sammy Ameobi's face when he got his sheet was priceless. Looked like someone sitting an exam who just realised they'd studied for the wrong one and not recognising the wording in any of the questions. He also seemed like the happiest guy in the world and was constantly grinning. (Until he got his sheet that is)

Right, that's about it. If yous have any questions feel free to ask!

Guest ObiChrisKenobi

Thanks for the update.

I reckon we'll see Dummett in and around the first team this season, wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench at all. Far greater Left Back than Shane Ferguson (which isn't a slight at Ferguson since that isn't his position ;)). Loves to get forward, not afraid to tackle, decent in the air. Just needs to work a bit on his decision making, and perhaps learn when NOT to tackle!

Enjoyed reading that, thanks mate.

I want to see Sammy and the sheet, like.

Thanks for that, man. Really interesting read.

Excellent post

No problem Sirs.

As for Dummett, yeah he looked like a solid left back with decent pace and strength. Not the most skilled player in the world from what I saw but good probably do a decent job as backup at least.
