I was honestly thinking this was a p*ss take, why would a Norwegian sports channel put highlights of a Newcastle XI vs Gateshead? Cheers anyway mate.

Just because it's Shola's little broder who scored two goals!  :smitten:

Ashington 0 - 1 Nufc res

"Brad Inman gave United an early lead when Michael Riley ran down the left and pulled the ball back for Inman who had time to control on the edge of the box before slotting home a low shot to the 'keeper's right."

Another goal from Inman after his brace last match.

that is not mayo new guy??

Didn't really catch me as Moyo, no. Also, Moyo is playing for the reserves vs. Ashington today. Hm.

Perch is playing and i'm sure he was in one of the training photos as well. Poor bloke must realise he has no chance of getting near the first team this year if he's playing in this one.

Interesting that Abeid is playing rather than being involved tomorrow. Also potentially a spot on the bench for Xisco?

Thought we were in for a cricket score once the 2nd went in but the goals dried up despite plenty of possesion. It was one of the most comfortable single goal victories i've ever seen however, with Ashington scoring very late on. I though Moyo was decent, showing good close control and an ability to get out of tight situations.

The bairn got a photo with Sammy, so she was happy.

Meanwhile, Pardew has revealed that United’s second string may quit the Premier League reserve league at the end of the season.

The Newcastle boss was considering taking the development squad out of the league and playing friendly games instead.

“We’re looking at that closely, that league,” he said.

”We want to make sure we get the best out of it.

“If not, we’ll have to change it.”

Fair enough.

Newcastle United's coaching clear-out

Aug 7 2011 by Mark Douglas, Sunday Sun

NEWCASTLE United Academy talent spotter Gavin Tait has left the club as part of a shake-up at the centre of excellence.

Tait, the former head of Academy recruitment, has joined Frankie Bunn through the exit door at the club’s Benton base.

And the Sunday Sun understands two other coaches have left the club this summer.

Bunn joined Rochdale as assistant manager only six months after getting the job of Academy coach to kick off an exodus of staff. All will be replaced, though, with United holding interviews with two candidates to replace Bunn this week.

The Academy has been one of the areas where owner Mike Ashley has looked to invest since seizing control of Newcastle.

In one of his rare interviews as Toon boss, Ashley said that he wanted United to become the ‘Arsenal of the North’ and on his watch Andy Carroll was given the chance to go from an Academy kid to England international.

The club have also spent considerable money bringing in top foreign talent. Haris Vuckic, one of those big money signings, is set for a big role this season.

But there have been some high-profile flops too – with the likes of Aaron Spear, Ben Tozer and Fabio Zambelera all failing to make an impact.

It all changes next year anyway (at least that's the plans), with an U21 League being implemented.
