Ben Sayer was by far the best player on the park, Blackburn were a much bigger and more physical side than we were and their left winger did our right back time and time again.

Their equaliser was also a massive deflection.

The charvers were very annoying.

Didn't realise that Lee Ryder is the name of a porn star too

Yeah, you get that, perhaps unwanted, discovery when you google search his name for images to photoshop.

not really a great shock,  Villa always seem to have very strong reserve/youth sides and are running away at the top of the Southern section.  We were always going to struggle against them when we are playing inexperienced kids like Logan and Kitchen(who has barely featured for the u18's, definately didn't play in any of the youth cup games).  Tonight is the type of game when we could have done with the likes of Tavernier, Kadar, Dummett and Ferguson in the back 4 but for one reason or another they weren't available.

The worrying thing from tonight would be us getting outplayed despite having the likes of Abeid and Gosling in the middle of the park.

God knows what side we'll play against Sunderland on Thursday at SJP.

ALAN PARDEW has hailed the progress of Newcastle United teenager Remie Streete – and the Toon boss believes that the South Shields lad could find himself in the first-team picture sooner rather than later.

The defender – who can play right-back or centre-back – won the prestigious Wor Jackie award last night at the star-studded Sport Newcastle awards dinner at Newcastle Civic Centre.

Streete, unable to collect his award after being on reserve-team duty with United at Aston Villa, has been training with the first team. And Pardew reckons that the Aylesbury-born 17-year-old could even bypass a loan move to step on to the first-team stage.

Pardew told the Chronicle: “It looks like it isn’t going to take him too much time to be playing first-team football.

“He’s physically ready, in the next two years he could go straight in.”

Pardew says that Streete could follow in the footsteps of Steven Taylor, who debuted for the Magpies against Real Mallorca in the old UEFA Cup during his teenage years.

Andy Carroll and Tim Krul are other examples of United players being blooded at an early age. Pardew said: “If you are really confident that you can handle it, then they can go straight in to the first team.

“I don’t want to heap too much pressure on Remie, but he’s a calm kind of guy.”

Streete skippered the Magpies to the FA Youth Cup last eight this season.

And Pardew feels he and England youth international Adam Campbell – currently injured with a foot problem – are Newcastle’s best two young prospects.

He said: “I thought we excelled actually to get to the quarter-finals.

“We were disappointed our young England boy didn’t play in Ginger (Adam Campbell) – we have high hopes for him.

“The outstanding player was Remie, there’s no doubt about that. I have high hopes for him too.

“He could be the one for us. Him and Ginger have the best chance.”

Streete was delighted to pick up the Wor Jackie award, and said: “I am really proud to pick up this award – it’s such a prestigious part of the football world up here and there are some great former winners which can hopefully inspire me to push on at Newcastle.

“I know there is a long way to go, but as long as I keep on learning and taking the good advice of the manager and experienced professionals, then hopefully I will get my chance.”

Meanwhile Geordie boy Paul Dummett has joined Gateshead on a month’s loan.
