Sounds to me like they've just read the journal and have nothing more to add.

Lets just get ready for the game tomorrow

The Office of Fair Trading referred the deal to the commission after Sports Direct failed to sell stores in five areas with competition concerns.

Sports Direct had been warned in May that it faced an inquiry if it failed to find buyers for the outlets.

The OFT said Sports Direct had not sold the stores and had "made no significant progress in doing so".

Does anybody REALLY know what'd going on anymore?

Lets hope the players are focused on the game tomorrow and not all the s*** in the newpapers like the rest of us!

Of course we're all focussed on the game. I reckon Moat'll net a hattrick and Ashley will make the bench.

A publicity-hungry MP sticking his oar in is not going to help. He doesn't have a clue what's going on.

Any anti Ashley publicity that may get national coverage is welcome, can't you see that?

I think a concerted hate campaign is probably the most effective weapon left against Ashley. It probably won't work but at least we can make it uncomfortable for the fat bastard.

Our most effective weapon against him is a cricket bat tbh.

It worked last time like, hopefully there will be some banners and chants at the hawthornes tomorrow and it'll really hit home!

I would rather pay fat man off asap, wouldn't fancy owing him 80 million.

Depends on the terms, it may be much more attractive than having to borrow it from elsewhere.

Again, I don't think this would automatically attract chancers who only have £20m - that's not something to worry about IMO. Anyone interested will probably still have to prove to SP they can theoretically afford the full thing.

If you have the dosh, just pay it off and get rid of him otherwise he will still be hanging round the club like a bad smell.

I don't care if Ashley is owed money as long as he's not in control of the club anymore.  Being able to pay £20m up front and owe £80m by a set date (say 4 years) is like getting a £80m interest free loan.  They can then use some of that 80m to finances what they want to do with the club instead of potentially having to go to the banks and lumber us with millions of pounds in interest payments.

The article suggests it would be next summer he'd want the rest not 4 years.

One of the comments on Caulkin's articles:

Mike Ashley cleared tens of millions off the debt of the club, promised £20 million each season to spend on players and appointed Keegan as manager.

The appointments apart, so many clubs and fans would KILL to have someone come in and do that. If Ashley had taken over at Everton and afforded Moyes that kind of budget I have no doubt they would be right up there, and by that I mean challenging for the title not just breaking into the top 4 again.

The Geordies have hounded him (almost)out and now the chickens will come home to roost. They will be back in the Premiership at some point, but there is NO CHANCE of promotion this season.

Idiot. Promised £20m!  He didn't end up spending that though did he! **** me.
