Whoever takes the England job is on to a hiding Imo. The squad just simply isn't good enough to win an international tournament.

The current pool of players England has available is more than good enough to challenge anyone in the world and possibly even win a tournament with some dumb luck.

They're not though really.

They're not as good as Spain or Germany, but far worse players have won tournaments before.

The way England is talked about sometimes you'd think they were South Korea or something. In terms of individual talent England would no doubt be one of the top 10 teams in the World. It's just a matter of how that talent is being utilized.

Greece were willing to play a very disciplined style and work for each other as a TEAM to make up for their lack of ability, they respected the manager and did exactly as he asked, they didn't believe they were the best in the world so didn't play as individuals. This is precisely why England won't win anything. Far too many egos to play like Greece and if they didn't respect someone with Capello's record they won't respect anybody.

I think sheer luck would be the only conceivable way for England to win a tournament. I think we probably have a hand full of world class players, but the issue is that they don't seem to work as a team and haven't done for years. Because of this, I don't think we can mix it with the big boys at all.
