Now, who do you drop to accommodate Rooney?

Parker - Gerrard - Milner

Walcott - Rooney - Welbeck

I'd say.

Milner?

Who else in CM? Can think of no-one and I'm not sure Welback can play a normal wing role in a 442. If he can, then

Walcott - Parker - Gerrard - Welback

Rooney - Carroll.

Don't start Walcott like.

He's perfect for what he did tonight.

Think the Ox could do the same like, though he's a bit rawer. Think one of them has to start, we need pace and drive on the wings.

Welbeck's undropable, imo. Carroll will have to f*** off unless Rooney fancies playing Young's role.

Play Rooney where Young is. The other two give us nice options.

As a second striker?

Young was pretty shit so agree with this, Ox maybe to raw to start and Walcott to start on Right Wing

Made very hard work of that, but am pleased they showed some guts after going behind. Carroll played very well (goal was superb!), Wellbeck was a threat and the introduction of Walcott was in inspirational sub. However our ball retention is woeful and we are so lacking in genuine quality in midfield that it's nout short of shocking.

In the main, England players are over-hyped, overpaid and not good enough for the attention that they get and enjoy.

Young was shit too, much worse than when Roy had him as a no 10, was awful defensively and didn't do much going forwards.

Carroll did well, diminished a lot later in game though. Welbeck was good, not much convinced by his build up play but seems a natural finisher. Walcott was good coming on, but I can see the logic in him coming on as a sub against tired legs rather than starting, though that logic is diminished somewhat by Milner as the alternative.

Central midfield was poor too, couldn't keep the ball at all, and defence standard shambles. It will never happen but I'd switch out Baines for Cole, who had a quiet game, and Baines is probably the best crosser of the ball we have, and would probably get more goals out of Carroll than Gerrard imo.
