Swedish medias wankfest last night over Zlatans 4 goals, except 3 of them came against Jenkinson - Cahill - Shawcross - Baines.

I'd score 50 goals against them too ffs. And Zlatans goal against France in the Euros was better, he does have a knack for scoring nice goals though.

I can't see much wrong with Swedish media wanking over Zlatans 4 goals against big football country and on the opening game of a new stadium.

Zlatan is the boss, hope he now gets some recognition in England too.

We had Safari-Olsson-Granqvist-Lustig. England should have scored 73 goals on that logic.

Special performance last night, nothing wrong in praising him ffs

Even by the terrible standards of our sports journalists, there was little room for exaggregation.

The media wankfest over him here is usually extremely tedious and well exaggerated, but considering the goals he scored yesterday, you can't blame them at all on this occasion.

Tom Huddlestone isn't good enough either. Would be nowhere near the squad if he played for Fulham or someone like that.

Linked to this, take Leon Osman. Hardly a spectacular player nor a top drawer player, but a fairly good one who is technically sound. Should have been in the squad a while ago but instead dross like Henderson are handed opportunities, and Gareth fucking Barry still gets picked. Osman however plays for Everton (read: not Man Utd, Liverpool etc). He is a better footballer than Tom Cleverley for example IMO. The latter however plays for Man Utd.

Not saying we should be regularly playing Osman, but it's scandalous someone like him wasn't given an opportunity earlier. For me, our insistence on playing someone like Barry (of Man City royalty) over giving someone like Osman a chance earlier on sums up what's been wrong with this country's national team and set-up for quite a long time.

Yep, totally agree. It's scandalous that Leon Osman has had to wait until now to play for England, whilst the likes of Barry, Cleverley and Carrick have been regularly playing.

Good game by Caulker too. He is going to be a fixture for many years.

I assume you mean Lampard or Gerrard, because Cleverly has what, five caps?

No I don't, because Gerrard and Lampard are good players. Cleverley is only in the squad because he's a Manchester United squad member.

He's in the squad because he's quality. In my eyes there's not a lot between him and Osman, except Cleverley is younger, fitter and faster.

Your eyes are covered by red lensed spectacles then. Osman is a far superior player to Cleverly and should have been in the squad way before now.

Or I just know my team extremely well. Cleverley is a stand out performer for us, and we're top of the Premier League. Also, I'm not sure if you're actually watching England or not, but Cleverley has been the best player on the pitch for England in most of the games he's played. He also just turned 23.

For what it's worth too, I rate Osman pretty highly. I was delighted he received a call up.

Cleverley isn't quality at all iyam. He's a good midfielder with above average technique which is why he gets praised from all angles.

Hopefully Wilshere is the same player that he was pre-injury, as he's a far better prospect than Cleverley.

100% agree with you on Wilshere, he's an incredible propesct.

Cleverley is performing extremely well for both club and country though, and like you said, he has above average technique. He also has very good vision and a decent eye for goal plus his workrate is second to none. Can't understand how that isn't quality, but each to their own.

I've always thought if Wilshere and Cleverley both fulfill their potential, England will have an incredible central midfield pairing, and possibly one that can play together, unlike Gerrard and Lampard.

That's my view as well, obviously Wilshere is more talented but Cleverly is very useful as well. They're both great prospects for England. We could end up with a very good midfield if some of the wide players fulfil their potential too.

I actually rate Cleverly  :undecided:

I'd rather than him than Osman at this stage because Osman is 31 and we should be looking to the future Osman should have been picked years ago but it's too late now IMO.

Carrick is a great player too he's the only player we have who can play the "Busquets" Role think he's terribly underrated in this country tbh.

It's easy to say he plays because he plays for Man U but it's really not true in these cases we don't have many better midfielders.

When they are all fit i would pick Carrick-Cleverly-Wilshere personally.

Typical fucking glory hunting Man United "supporter" bollocks.

Must have watched that goal about 10 times now, looks even better from the opposite angle. Love when you see a goal that is almost something completely new; Cisse's last season was similar.

He has a knack of doing those :)

What? How can you guys be of that opinion when they write stuff like goal of the millenium, one of the best performances on the international stage ever. Come on now. It sure was a great game from Zlatan, and nothing against him personally since I actually like Zlatan, I just hate the wankfest over him constantly in Sweden.

Also that fourth goal is beautiful in its way that it was so amazingly improvised. But Crouch and Cisse last season had a goalie there to try and defend it. It's not really comparable in my opinion in that sense, but I do understand those who find this better since it really is an amazing goal.

Yeah just saw the goal for the first time after hearing how spectacular it was, I was a little underwhelmed. Amazing technique to get that much power into a bicycle kick fro 30 yards out but was that the best goal I've seen in 30 years, like I saw quoted so often last night ? Abso freaking lutely not, HBA's Blackburn and Bolton goals took way more skill than that, there's a hell of a lot of luck involved in pulling off the bicycle kick.

The coverage went way over the top I believe.

I thought this too, it was obviously an amazing goal but people are going a bit too mental.

People think he was lucky, maybe a bit, but im not surprised at all when it comes to Zlatan and these type of goals he just has that technical skill and timing combined with physical power and agility.

Great goal, but not as lucky as many think, more skill for sure.

It's definitely not luck, it's just not THAT AMAZING.

It was canny amazing like. It would have been difficult to keep a full volley under control from there with the pace needed to beat the defenders, but to get that pace and accuracy with an overhead kick is something else.

Every effort from range has an element of luck though, otherwise people would be battering them in from 40 yards without fail.

on that usual site there is another overhead kick from similar distance by mauro bressan but with a keeper to beat. both very good goals but not the best ever as some in the media want to make out.

That Bressan is one of 100 other goals which were much better than Zlatan.
