Guest
Fairly sure this happened with Viana too when we first loaned him out. Gave him a contract extension first.
Dave
A real pity how it's ended up, a couple of years ago it looked like he'd be our top quality keeper for many, many years. Obviously our relegation has helped fuck that up, and it was almost inevitable he'd feel like his international place was under real threat. Suspect he just wants to play top flight football and the lure of Ajax is too much.
Guest
Was never the same after that first big injury. Shame how it's worked out like you say.
SUPERTOON
We must have saved a lot of money on wages so far, with the promise of more with Tiote and Sissoko still likely to go.
r0cafella
I've wondered how much of his stagnation is due to the amateur hour coaching he's received over the past several years.
Guest
Fairly sure this happened with Viana too when we first loaned him out. Gave him a contract extension first. We seem to be doing it quite a bit now, did the same with Sammy and Vuckic before they went out on loan last year. Gather it's so that if he has a good season at Ajax (and there is no automatic option to buy) we can demand a good fee for him with him being under contract til 2018. Obviously didn't work that way with Sammy or Vuckic though
hoppaz
Modern football club loan whereby he has to get back to his roots rather than coast here. What is not to like? His flaps as as balls sail past his hands or the inevitable kick the ball out of play every home game times (insert number here). Oh then let us not forget his pay... He needs this loan as between him and Elliot there ain't that much distinction tbh.

Guest Howaythetoon
Such a weird deal given Everton offered 8m cash for him and he was already to sign the deal, something is amiss here...

I'm sure if they had NUFC would have accepted that.

TBF I think he had the shits that game yet still played but said he could not repeat the words he said to Defoe that game. Regardless it was weak as fuck so needs to be at a new club which is what Rafa thinks too. Hey ho let's see how he does in a league where he should be the absolute best... Yorkie
Bet the lad just fancies going home for a bit. He's been here since he was 17 when Joe Kinnear signed him; long time away from home. Would love for him to come back and not be shit any more, but equally I'd be just as happy if one or both of Sels or Darlow improve dramatically, and we say goodbye to Tim. And fwiw the mateyness with Defoe after his goal was fucking rancid.
Newcastle Fan
One of my favorite people associated with the club, shame to see him not with us
jdckelly
Shame but if there was one position we could let someone go it is a goalkeeper and he obviously wants to try and get a place in the national side which he just wasn't going to in the championship. afar
Who's the longest serving now? Tiote? yep and after him I'm fairly certain its Elliott I would have thought Dummet and Armstrong have been with the club longer, dunno for sure.

Flip
Finally getting rid of all the Dutch. Just Anita now and then Unbelievable On a serious note, what's this extension all about? So if he does well we could command a higher fee for him at the summer or even keep him?
