Club is becoming as tacky as Sports Direct.

:frantic:

It's a set of football club chrimbo cards which by definition are mainly going to be given as a fun thing to young kids. Just how classily somber and stylish do you expect them to be?

"Pardew in a pear tree". Arf. :D

from the true-faith website about their next issue:

We are really pleased with this issue of the fanzine. It coincides with The Mag and ourselves being invited by United for a full day at the training ground and we have an eight-page special feature detailing every part of the visit including close up and personal observations of the training sessions, 1-2-1s with the club’s analysts and conditioning specialists and coach, Steve Stone, talked through the tactical preparation put together by John Carver, observing a Press Conference and finally two hours chatting to Alan Pardew in his office at Darsley Park. We think you’ll find it interesting.

But that’s not all. There is loads of other stuff including one of our writers bumping into none other than Derek Llambias and getting something of an impromptu and accidental interview with our Managing Director. You’ll be surprised by the content. We didn’t have any secret tape recorders and nor did we flog the tape to the Sunday Mirror.

Sounds interesting. Seems the club are tentatively trying to do a little more in terms of PR.

I'd say they are also approaching the right people. Certain 'groups' that want dialogue with the club remind me of the Barra Brava's in Argentina.

not just dialogue with the club but also the players....the Barras Bravas make their living by also  getting a nice salary from them

I think the first time you hear of them your mind kind of condenses at the thought. It's like our ground being stewarded by the Bigg Market's finest.

Again something I learned about thanks to BBC booted.

Fletcher takes a break

On behalf of Darren Fletcher, Manchester United wishes to announce that he is taking an extended break from football for health reasons.

Over the past year he has had several absence periods which we have attributed to a viral illness in order to respect his right to medical confidentiality. Darren has, in fact, been suffering from ulcerative colitis (a chronic inflammatory bowel condition) for some time preceding this.

Whilst he was able to maintain remission of symptoms for a considerable period this has proved more difficult recently and Darren’s continued desire to play and his loyalty to both his club and country has probably compromised the chances of optimising his own health and fitness.

He has therefore accepted medical advice to take an extended break from the demands of training and playing in order to afford the best chance possible of achieving full remission once again.

We request that his privacy is respected and hope that the removal of the additional stress associated with speculation regarding his health will also aid his recovery.

That statement is so badly written.

But aye, good luck to him. Like him as a player and is supposed to be a decent bloke too.
