ponsaelius
Mad bastards. Just looking at the Belgian one, splits into 3 sections after 30 game season. Top 6 that have their points halved and then play each other again twice. Next 8 going into 2 groups of four and play round robin home and away, winners of each group then play each other before going into a final play-off with the fourth best team from the top 6 to take the Europa place Then the bottom 2 play each other 4 times to decide who stays up

Ketsbaia
The problem with Brazil is they have grueling state championships before the national one, so there's far too many games. And these state competitions will often see national giants play teams with barely hundreds of fans....they need to sort it out and streamline it. Is Teixeira's replacement likely to change this or not?

ponsaelius
Got the relegation bit wrong. They play each other 5 times not four. The team finishing in 15th (second bottom) is given a 3 point head start and home advantage in 3 of the 5 games.

ponsaelius
Fuck me it doesn't end there. Whoever loses the relegation round of 5 is directly relegated and replaced by the 2nd division champions. The team that wins the best of 5 has to enter a four way round robin tournament with 2nd-4th placed teams from the second division.

Talking about giving the USA CONCACAF too much coverage. on a slightly unrelated subject I was baffled at how the USA has pretty much hosted every Gold Cup themselves (apart from 2 or 3 occasions where they co-hosted it with Mexico). I would like to see say Canada host it, they are building some pretty nice Football/Soccer specific stadiums over in Canada now, also how about Mexico host a tournament themselves? They have the stadia for it.

Anyway thats pointless as Mexico itself is a football hotbed, most of the immigrants who follow football in the USA are from the nation that compete in the Gold Cup. It would just be nice for them to share it around like they do for the Euro's. In dream world I'd like to see Canada host a World Cup, maybe even if they co-hosted with the USA. Stifler
The USA and Canada have a combined population of around 330 million people. It would be great to see them both co-host a world cup. FIFA are supposed to want to bring it to countries that aren't really into football, USA and Canada are the two last nations in the Western world where football isn't popular. It's growing, the MLS has shown that in recent years. What will happen when the likes of Beckham and Henry retire though?, will it go the way it did in the 70's and 80's and become a nothing league again? or will both countries start producing their own talent and their own stars? I'd love to see football take off over there, yeah it's probably not going to be the most popular sport in other country, but with an increase of immigration to both countries, hopefully and increase in talent created by both countries then it could quite easily become a good 2nd favourite sport or summer sport in both countries. At least enough to be able to hold it's own.
David28
Fergie 'ambulance drama': Reds boss 'rushed to hospital with suspected heavy nose bleed' Fergie had been due to speak at a dinner in Glasgow to mark the 40th anniversary of Rangers’ Cup Winners’ Cup Final win Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly rushed to hospital with a suspected heavy nose bleed last night. The Reds legend, 70, had been due to speak at a celebratory dinner in Glasgow to mark the 40th anniversary of Rangers’ Cup Winners’ Cup Final win against Moscow Dynamo. He was apparently taken from the £75-a-head event at the Thistle Hotel to the hospital as a precautionary measure before being discharged when doctors decided it was not serious. A Manchester United spokesman told The Sun: “There was a minor problem but he is at home resting and is fine.” Former Rangers managers Alex McLeish and Walter Smith were at the sold-out dinner alongside the players who won the trophy at Barcelona's Nou Camp Stadium in 1972. Sir Alex celebrated 25 years in charge of Manchester United in November and enjoyed success in Scotland before his arrival at Old Trafford. He was at East Stirlingshire and St Mirren before he led Aberdeen to the Scottish championship title in 1980 and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1983. In his time at Old Trafford, he has steered Man Utd to 12 Premier League titles, two European Cups and five FA Cups. However, United’s cross-city rivals Manchester City sensationally turned the tables on Sunday by clinching the title in extra time. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/sir-alex-ferguson-rushed-to-hospital-839724
