Mole_Toonfan
Maybe because Nick Broad died? Aye that's exactly the reason, Ancelotti was crying before kick off.

Guest JS
Image this scenario - You're 20 years old and playing professional football. You're playing for a mediocre team in a decent league, and you're approached with 3 options - 1) Sign for you favourite club and stay with them for the rest of your career, hoping to become a club icon 2) Sign for teams that pay you good money / hope to win something 3) Try your hand at lots of different clubs in different leagues Which would you choose? Might make it a poll if people are interested (?)
Guest
1 for me. As long as my club was a decent standard
Superior Acuña
1 primarily, a bit of 3 at the end. Sign for my favourite club for most of the rest of my career, and after I've peaked but not got long left (early 30s), try to win something, preferably in different league i.e. La Liga. A bit like when Sheringham went to ManU (but abroad).

LRD
Retired cyclist Oscar Pereiro has sensationally claimed that some high profile footballers have used performance enhancing drugs throughout their careers. "There was a player who had transfusions to improve their performance and is idolised today," Pereiro told Cadena Cope. "There was a player who used a growth hormone and is idolised today." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1307220/former-cyclist-oscar-pereiro-accuses-footballers-of-drug-use?cc=4716

Pandamninator
Thought it was pretty common knowledge that Barcelona paid for the growth hormone treatment when was a little kid because of some disease?
Village Idiot
Of course it is, and it was approved and everything. He's probably talking about somebody else who did it illegally, but it's still funny. To be honest, Pereiro has been singing this tune for years now. If he really knew something it would have come out.

Ishmael
Thing is, there is absolutely no question that Messi taking hormones will have significantly improved his footballing ability.
Guest firetotheworks
Thing is, there is absolutely no question that Messi taking hormones will have significantly improved his footballing ability. There is like! He was signed up and had the treatment paid for by Barca because of his ability. The growth hormones were to correct, not augment. Village Idiot
Tito will be two weeks absent from the club while he undergoes chemotherapy. I'm not too sure the club is approaching this the right way; one game he's there, then he's not... maybe they should have found a caretaker until he fully recovers. Deuce
Thing is, there is absolutely no question that Messi taking hormones will have significantly improved his footballing ability. He probably gained, what, a few inches? His small size is one of his greatest assets. Now, if he were 5'3" or something, would that have tremendously affected his ability? That really is almost too small to play the game, regardless of his incredible technical ability. I think his hormone treatments certainly had an impact on his footballing ability. Hard to say what kind of player he'd be without the treatments though.
Village Idiot
To be frank, a correctly plastered leg will also have had an effect on any injuried player's footballing ability.
