Interestingly, if this is still used in his bio, it's been 6 years almost since he was involved. Very, very few of the group publicise their involvement via bios etc. Because we don't perceive it to be important. Inevitably, as the groups exposure has grown and is the fuel which we so rely upon, then anonymity has been difficult to maintain, and whilst it might not be forbidden, very few of us list this in our bios. Our intention is to reflect what we believe to be fans' and our own collective opinion, not to represent the fanbase. Semantics?..maybe. There's a slight difference for me though and hopefully we strike the fine line that doesn't make us seem like one of the characters many frown upon within our fanbase. Anyhoo...I digress... Dreadful dinner party liberalism put to paper by a bloke who went to see 808 State once and thought he was Madchester incarnate. Even as a nascent lefty in the early to mid 00s who threw himself at the feet of anyone vaguely radical I knew it was properly shit. Shame like, because there was evidently a market for a left leaning fanzine that wasn’t a tribute to Red Issue. I’ve no idea of the politics of Hurst et al but it wouldn’t surprise me if MM has got into bed with the type of people he spent most of the last thirty years performatively attacking.
