Not to mention 95% of people would still just call it St James' Park anyway. Probably half the reason why no-one has bothered sponsoring us.

bingo the idea works with new stadia without their own identity but an old place like sjp thats rather well known?

That's the problem though. There's no chance the money would go straight into the transfer budget.

Where do you think it would go? (Not a loaded question)

If it goes into the club, it will be being spent in the club one way or another.

It would probably just go into the coffers and be used as another source of paying the wages, running costs etc. - doesn't seem worth it considering these are all currently covered.

Would only want extra sponsorship if it meant more chances to expand the playing side.

We're making losses though, so they aren't covered.  That's the point & a major factor in  the lack of transfer funds.

Any additional revenue once you we're into 7 figure numbers absolutely has to be considered, not that that's definately how much we're talking.

Also, I'd imagine that any owner would be much more willing to stick his hand in his pocket for a one off payment to buy a player knowing that the club could finance the ongoing costs of the wages itself, as that would be an investment rather than a subsidy.

losses for last season are 32.5 million, we should make that up via more TV, prize and sponsorship money this season

Estimated(with several months left in the tax year) being the key word. The actual figures in the accounts as i said have not been announced.

Estimate losses would of been done by an independent accountant, the losses won't change that much!

Either way your claim it is fact is wide of the mark!

:p

If the club expects to lose 32.5 million, then that's is what I expect!  They would of taken taxes into account.
