Wallace
When they made the announcement last week about the naming rights, people were up in arms and then over the days, a few were starting to come round and the initial anger was lessening. So you would think from a PR point of view, that it would make sense to delay today's announcement for another week or so as it is another 3 weeks until the next home game but no, they made the announcement today and inflame the fans even more so. They did the same thing when Keegan left - the anger was starting to die down and then everyone got angry again with the FACT statement. You can only think they are being deliberately provocactive. Guest sicko2ndbest
I would fucking love it if fans stormed SJP either up the stads or the throught the players entrance. They cant stop everyone. It would really spell it out to the fat cunt what we think of him
Weezertron
The daftest thing is the way Llambias basically said "We worded it badly the other day, bit of an error on our part. It's not going to be called Primark Park or Tesco Towers. We're using this thing called an @, it's the dog's bollocks. We'll try it til the end of the season - sportsdirect.com @ St James Park Stadium. See? You thought we were taking the piss or going insane but we're using an @ you dafties. Are we friends again?" I might have missed where it was confirmed, but are they actually using an @ as opposed to 'at'? Yep, or at least that's how it's being widely reported. Newcastle to rename stadium 'sportsdirect.com@StJames'Park' http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/nov/04/newcastle-united-naming-stadium-rights The '@' looks tacky as owt (not that the whole thing isn't tacky anyway). Idiots. If they change the sign at the front of the stadium they're going to have to have some hefty security around to protect it. But he'll be chuckling away to himself, tee hee, what fantastic freeeeeeeee publicity for Sports Direct. Derek has already confirmed that they would be changing the signs on gates etc. I'd guess it would mean the front of the stadium also.
Guest Roger Kint
The only reason i think he hasnt sold up this season is the fact hes waiting to get Sports Direct on the front of the shirt. But before he can do that he pulls this f***ing trick out the hat What a great idea, Ashley dramatically reduces our revenue and pays himself for the sponsorship instead of gettig somebody else to put money into the club? AfroP
bet 50p that our next shirt sponsor will be the cheap tat that is lonsdale and will have sports direct plastered across the front. a lonsdale shirt that under normal conditions would cost a fiver will still be the same price they are charging for our current kit. midds
The only consolation is that it sounds so absurd it's hard to even begin to take seriously. No-one will use it and it'll mean nothing.

Addidas and Northern Rock put approx £50m into the club over their 5 years. Doesnt make much sense taking outside help away and effectively giving the club his own money. Nicky
Are media outlets legally bound to call it this bollocks? I first read that without the word 'it' and it seemed like such a fantastic idea. The Times: THIS IS BOLLOCKS, The Guardian: BOLLOCKS @ ST JAMES, The Chronicle: NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S SOME MORE FUCKING BOLLOCKS. The Mail: IMMIGRANTS HAVE CAUSED THIS BOLLOCKS. Or: THANK GOD DIANA ISN'T ALIVE TO SEE THIS BOLLOCKS Ahahahahaha. First thing that's made me laugh since I read this news
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
We are having the piss taken out of us left right and centre. How the f*** do we expect our players to fight on the pitch if we roll over and die on the terraces. We ought to be fukin ashamed we've let him get this far Protest like hell on Saturday And what will that achieve? Nothing. Unfortunately we've gone beyond protesting now, nothing will make Ashley change his mind or move.
Guest Brummiemag
I've wondered for a long time whether Ashley is an incompetent pratt or whether he is deliberately trying to destroy the club and antagonise the fans. There can be no doubt now that at the very least, Ashley is deliberately going out of his way to antagonise the fans.
Dave
'The fans will come around eventually'. Yep, we'll look back on relegation fondly in the future Derek you fucking numbskull. Just taking the piss and seeing what shite they can get away with.
Guest Geordiecunny
Another lovely PR exercise. We'll never see money paid for a player again with these clowns.
ElDiablo
Personally I liked the bit about how the turnover has been halved, so it's like this had to be done and we should be pleased. Who's fault is it it's been halved you thick fucking cunt.

PineBarrens
Lowes arse-licking manically. What a coward. The complete lack of searching questions or damning criticism of the fucking Bert 'N' Ernie show on Barrack Road - aside from the likes of George Caulkin - has been nothing short of a disgrace. Guest Geordiesned
"...we purposely kept a nucleus of the team that we felt that could take us up..." Bullshit! So how many bids did you turn down then??? If there had been more bids I'm pretty certain more players would have left.

PineBarrens
How about the former mute Scorsese truth dodger answers these questions: What happened to the 'more than 2 bids of 100 million' bids for the club? How can you expect any utterances from the club to be given credence in light of the PR excercise/mis-leading the fans as revealed in the findings of the adjudication panel? Why, seeing as no other Premiership or Championship club have done so and given the fact we have a multi-millionaire owner, must Newcastle United surrender their heritage in return for at most a few extra million pounds per year? Why, given that his original appointment was previously deemed to be 100% the best decision made by Mike Ashley has Alan Shearer been overlooked for the position of Newcastle United Manager? What was the purpose of your naked streak at St. James' Park? Any reason why neither yourself nor your employer deemed it necessary to be present for either the Bobby Robson testimonial match or his subsquent memorial service? What the f*** is going on with those eyebrows, Derek?
JH
"We nearly got it spot-on" Is he for fucking real? They couldn't have got things more wrong! "We wish the supporters would focus on the pitch and the team as opposed to us as individuals" - Aye Derek, we would if you didn't keep taking the fucking piss.
