I kinda find these threads a bit strange.

RIP and all that, but I can't even find a thread in Gen Chat about this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8351737.stm

Fair enough. It is a football forum though, ultimately a footballers death will be more high profile.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I just find it very odd how people get upset about deaths of footballers who people have probably never heard of (and yeah, I know, you've never heard of the soldiers who died either)

RIP to them as well. However, I have not heard of any of these people before, nor do I know them personally. The news that soldiers have died in a war does not strike me in the same way.

Regardless of that thought, the emotion is still the same. Unnecessary death is a shame regardless of who it is.

:undecided:

Why would people not have heard of him?

OK, some people.

I seem to remember getting into this conversation the last time a footballer died. I should learn from my mistake :(

KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!

Sorry.  Really sad news, very similar case to some jury service I did a couple of years ago too.

Reminds me of America NBA player Eddie Griffin , who comitted suicide by sitting in his car on train the tracks until the train came. He was burned so badly they could not recognise the body. That wasn't really surprising though. He was troubled. Had severe alcohol/drug problems and had gotten into a car accident while pleasuring himself.

Enke, on the other hand, seemed to be relatively stable and headed in the right direction in his career.
