iklgizmo
http://www.shieldsgazette.com/nufc/Toon-in-new-talks-with.5945975.jp Toon in new talks with Northern Rock Published Date: 30 December 2009 By Andy Hughes NEWCASTLE United is in talks with mortgage lender Northern Rock about renewing a major sponsorship deal. The bank's seven-year contract with the club is one of many deals due to run out at the end of the season. Despite a turbulent couple of years for Northern Rock, a spokesman confirmed it is in talks with club bosses about extending its sponsorship deal. It is believed the club has received more than £25m in shirt and ground sponsorship from Northern Rock. A Northern Rock spokesman said: "It is correct that the deal is up at the end of the season, and we are talking about the issue with the club. "No final decision has been made but there are on-going discussions." In November, the club brought in Liverpool-based marketing specialists Ampersand to help with the new round of sponsorship deals, with the main focus being a new shirt sponsor. Though it's good to have a local shirt sponser I really don't want them to sponsor us anymore, I mean it's common knowledge that Virgin Money is going to buy them out, and I just couldn't handle the word Virgin on my shirt. NR has split into 2 companies this week so even if they do buy one half, the other half of the company (with the safe mortgages and savings accounts) will remain as Northern Rock plc

BlueStar
Was gonna say like, look fine if you're some lithe 19 year old, wouldn't like to see some of our midfield or supporters in something that stretchy and skimpy
David28
Maybe they will do the same like Adidas have done with the new Germany shirt: They have put 2 shirts to choose for the players - one of them skin tight, the other usual sized. Good idea but I doubt Puma will do the same.

M4
We do need to get that Yellow and black combo going again, it really works well. Funny how high Puma are putting the badges, they keep getting higher and higher, they'll be on the shoulder soon.

Chrisjraby
Does losing the adidas sponsorship deal mean that we have to change the kit immediately to the Puma one (assuming they've definately got the deal now)? Presumably the deal runs to the end of a particular season, although i've heard some people talking about the new kit being implemented as soon as possible. Chrisjraby
That was the point I was making. I've heard it mentioned that we would have to start wearing the new kit immediately, but I was certain all sponsorship deals were season-long. Be a nice little money maker for Fat Ashley if we all had to go and buy new shirts now wouldn't it haha.
Mistle17
http://i46.tinypic.com/2dl6ss8.jpg Love this! Just move the Puma logo onto a black stripe to make it a white cat and we're in business...
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
thats fucking horrible! Add some red piping on and you've got yourself a potential Udinese shirt. I can see where Gimp's coming from saying the Admiral kits scream lower league football, but the simplicity of them appeals to me. Basic black and white stripes. The away and third kits are also bonny.
