Superior Acuña
I think the only thing that would stop Kane doing it would be if he leaves the country, which could well happen. Aguero's too old. I'm surprised it lasted this long - I used to think Rooney too, or Owen before that.

Chris_R
Kane should do it if he stops in the league and stays mostly fit. Couple of the others have a chance too. I'll not exactly be pleased when it happens, but records are there to be broken.
mrmojorisin75
rashford Edited when I looked at it again. Still more likely than the others. thought it was a bit odd to put him in that company given he's got 10% of the required total, but in terms of potential i suppose it's there in a long distant future kane will obvs come closest but he also suffers from a lot of niggling injuries that are unlikely to improve with age
Guest Howaythetoon
I’d back Augero to do it, but he’d have to leave City for another PL club who would have to ask less off him off the ball, but create enough for him to get lots of goals. I can’t see the others doing it, Kane included. I think Shearer personally would be happy if Augero did it as he rates him the best foreign player to have played in the PL. Raconteur
No one rates Sterling's chances? If he stays in England there's every chance he can score heavily enough to make it. I don't know the stats, but it seems he's been scoring loads more this season and he just seems to get better and better.

He seems the sort that would go back to Spain or Argentina to wind down. Kane needs an average of 20 over 7 seasons, given there’ll be years he gets mid 20s to 30 a season then he’ll break it unless he moves abroad or gets a serious run of injuries. I'm not sure whether the goals would continue when he's older and I think it relies upon Man City staying this attacking.
mrmojorisin75
i also don't think kane will continue at a great rate if spurs go to shit if/when poch leaves...none of which might happen of course but that's the most remarkable thing about shearer's record - that he scored what he did after coming to us and playing in absolute shite teams for years on end

Stifler
Didn't think it was a red ffs He has to counterbalance his NUFC views. Early on in his media career he was highly criticised for being too biased towards us (I don’t think he was, just how he was viewed). Since then he has altered his views concerning us or refused to give a view on specific incidents.

Sima
For a centre forward to think that wasn’t a straight red is baffling.

Sima
If Shearer was Rondon today, he’d be thinking differently imo. He’d be absolutely livid

Rebellious
I was at that match and met Shearer for the first time in the Player lounge after. Got a photo of him with the bandage off after, i`m sure I uploaded it on here years ago. When ever I think back to that day I remember Gary Speed drinking a Brown Ale having a laugh with friends and family after the match.
Geordie Ahmed
Didn't think it was a red ffs Tbf he mentioned according to the laws it's not a red so really the law needs to be amended because the situation we were in was a goalscoring opportunity. David Edgar
Yeah, Shearer seems to lean heavily on the interpretation of the rules by senior referees when providing his analysis. He'll probably have just parroted what he was told by whoever he gets his info from.
Happinesstan
Credit to him for remaining professional and not allowing his bias to overtake. Any Man U pundit would have been indignant.
