Dave
I'm a fan but these huge swings in form are very worrying. We desperately need to bring in a #2 to help him out and get the contract situations sorted.

Decky
You have to look at the players as well. At the end of the day there was a decent side out there today and they just didnt turn up. They were gutless and pathetic, smacks of the relegation season and its no surprised most of this lot played for us that year too. Hughton has his share of the blame for not getting the players going of course, but at the end of the day they are 11 grown men and professional footballers, to walk out there and not even bother is ridiculous. Cajun
Shit from all including the manager today, just not good enough, we weren't up for it at all.
Ronaldo
There's no excuse for today. There were alternatives to that joke alongside Carroll. Nobody forced us to play defensively against a team who got dicked 3-0 against Stoke in their last home game.
oldtype
When you're a relegation struggler you're going to have some terrible losses. At the beginning of the season, Hughton himself mentioned the need to stay strong through these inevitable poor patches. We just have to accept that some degree of fluctuation is natural. There's still a lot of football to be played and there's no point in labeling him yet. Just in general principle, you shouldn't even consider sacking your manager unless he's a. lost the dressing room, or b. persists on making the same mistakes. We've seen none of that from Hughton. AlanSkÃrare
The balance today was nowhere to be seen, they played the same throughball in the middle all the time. We need Barton and Nolan back asap. Due an upturn in form now to avoid the drop zone before Christmas. Very important to get something from Liverpool and Birmingham. It should also be obvious to him that Shola offers far less than Ranger.

The attitude of some the players walking about the pitch today was sickening - Hughton isn't exempt from criticism on that point, but the difference in attitude was a major factor today. Four big players out today (five if you include old Benny) and man did it ever show.

The point is that there wasnt a decent side out there. Too many players who are simply sub standard. A side containing Guthrie, Smith, Routledge, Jonas, Lovenkrands, Simpson and Shola is not decent. They are not decent players. You could argue that Routledge, Campbell and Taylor are half decent but the fact of the matter is our side has far too many passengers. Mick
I think he's already proven he's a good manager. We're obviously going to lose games and have bad runs, you can't always say that means the manager is crap, take Ancelotti as an example at the moment. On the other hand you could argue the opposite with the good runs but I think Hughton has shown enough in the last year and a half, with our rapid rise, to show he's a good manager. Mick, you seem to be basing your opinion on Hughton's ability entirely down to our results (thinking he's good after and few wins and bad after a few defeats), surely there comes a point where you have to accept that a manager is doing the best with the players he has got. You could argue Hughton isn't doing this it but that would be difficult IMO. I don't base my opinion on results alone, playing Guthrie on the right wing when he clearly can't play in that position does my head in, that comment has nothing to do with today. Leaving Shola on for so long last weekend was crazy, as was actually starting him today after last weeks non-event. Also, I'm not blaming him for todays result where he had limited resources although Shola shouldn't have been in the starting 11.

Frazzle
Absolutely clueless. Never learns from his mistakes. If he's absolutely clueless how come your mates at Chelsea couldn't outwit him? Terrible day at the office today but overall this season we are doing OK. This forum is fucking shit sometimes though with some of the bi-polar idiots. Anyone who expected an easy ride all season is fucking clueless.

Doctor Zaius
Struggle to see why days like today are totally blamed on Hughton. The fact of the matter is; too many of our players aren't fucking good. You can bleat on about tactics all you want but if the 11 men you put on the field are inferior to the opposition, there's very little you can do about it. oldtype
I can understand playing Guthrie on the wing. We were playing well with Barton as the "winger" crossing from deep, and putting Guthrie there is ostensibly a simple like-for-like that doesn't require us to change a successful system. It didn't work so we don't try it anymore. Saying Shola shouldn't play is all good and fine until you consider the alternatives. Out of him, Best, Lovenkrands, and Ranger, can you honestly say with a straight face that Ameobi is not the most likely to score over the course of 90 minutes?
