Stifler
BBC almost got it right http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/6883/rockvf.jpg Yeah change the Tyne tunnel section float away to, "is floated into place, Northern Rock secures new deal with NUFC, and Labour do fuck all to help kids or anyone else" then they have pretty much got it spot on. Stifler
For all those worried about having Virgin on our shirts, its just as likely that Tesco will be the ones to buy out Northern Rock (the good bit) Tesco's are more interested in forming their own bank by having instore branches, along with buying branches that RBS, and Lloyd TSB have to sell off aswell as some of the Allience & Liecester branches Abbey will sell before it is merged with them fully. If the government sell off the 'good bank' (which is the one that will be sponsoring NUFC) within a year they are idiots and deserve to be shot. Why sell when the Financial market is at a low? They might as well hang on to Northern Rock and their Lloyds TSB and RBS shares until banking is booming again and then sell high. If Virgin, Tesco or Metro (some American bank) do buy Northern Rock surely the deal would have changed and therefore they wouldn't have to sponsor NUFC any more? Anyway, I now await a huge number of 'Daily Mail' readers and Southern tossers to start complaining that public money is being spent on NUFC via this sponsorship deal. Nah, wouldn't be a good idea, they would end up having to pay a high early release charge on the contract, and that is if NUFC agreed to it, if they didn't thne they would have to see out thev remanider of the contrat without any way of getting out of it cheaply. Plus it wouldn't look good for the company if they did that.

nobby_solano
i read the chronicle article and it says £1.5m to £10m in sponsorship, the money being paid over time, and the £10m on condition that we stay in the premiership for 4 seasons. Colos Short and Curlies
BBC almost got it right http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/6883/rockvf.jpg Robert Peston probably wrote that headline. There will be ann 'update' at 2:30 stating that in fact despite earlier agreeing to pull out of the deal Northern Rock have taken a £50m loan from the Tories and agreed to continue with the sponsorship
S.S.R.
We're a CCC club at the moment ffs. Which is why it's dumb to tie ourselves to a 4 year deal, when we could be in a better bargaining position after we're promoted.

Superior Acuña
Can someone do a mock-up of what the current strip will look like with the new deal? (Don't want those photoshoppers to be disappointed).
eddco
Can someone do a mock-up of what the current strip will look like with the new deal? (Don't want those photoshoppers to be disappointed). The Northern Rock Plc Logo is exactly the same as the Old Northern Rock. So the current strip will look exactly like the current strip!

I was going to get a mock up done saying plus 4 more years, but it may turn out to look like a bad advert for Labour. Don't want 4 more years of that shit. Where was everyone's reaction to RBS sponsoring F1?, or Man City basically getting a stadium for free off the tax payer?

It's on a lease but I'm sure they didn't pay much for it, only payed for the fee to dig the pitch down and put in a few more seats after the Commonwealth games. Stifler
Last year some company called Z or Zee, had a Zebra as a logo, in Sunderland they had to change the Black stripes to Red ones because they complained. Do they not have anything worthwhile to do?
