Btw a few people said in the pre-match thread for this game that Hughton could prove his worth to them by keeping the same team and setup (or very similar).

Be interesting to see how that opinion differs now it didn't work.

I hoped that we would pick the same team and, of course, now i wish we had not.

I wonder how many others will be honest.

i really don't think it matters a great deal as playing smith or butt, i doubt would have altered things.

Verdict : Not Hughtons fault. We just plainly arent good enough.

I don't blame Hughton at all even though I though Loven shold've started. But at the end of the day we're s*** and we will finish 2nd. And then get relegated next season.

The defeat is one thing and to be fair we've been on an impressively long unbeaten run. However, whats more worrying is our poor performances away from home and inability recently to even bag scrappy wins on the road. Swansea is a massive game now, the mental strength of our players will have to improve a lot on this showing.

West brom are essentially top purely on dodgy refereeing decisions, couldnt deserve it less

They're top because they're better than us.

Don't blame referees, blame our inability to beat teams when we have them on the rack and our inability to go away and perform.

Something like 6 pens in their last 9 games. Then the decisions we've had against us.

We're complete opposites in luck currently. Im sure if we were getting endless pens we'd do better away from home also.

To get pens you need players with pace and a degree of skill.

Yes theyve won them all purely through their outstanding ability. Give me a break.

Sounds like one of those nights tbh. We were always going to lose a few between now and the end of the season and Derby are pretty good at home. We've had more of the ball and Hughton picked the side we all wanted to see and it hasn't worked. We take it on the chin and move on to Swansea.

It's very disappointing but it's not the end of the world.

Had they not lost 6 at home so far?

This will be their 8th win. West Brom have only won 9.

Did we have Routledge and Jonas on each wing against Leicester, Sheff Wed and Barnsley? With those two in the team in the same 4-5-1 I would have liked our chances a whole lot more against those teams. By the way how many 3 - 0 poundings did we get in those games?

Well, we did throw away wins in two, and fail against 10 men in the other TBH

It's sour grapes.

You run at people with pace, you win pens.

If you employ one-paced fucking plodders up front, you get nowt.

Simple.

I try not to log on when we're losing, it's mostly unreadable. From what I've heard we were on top in the second half until the penalty, even the third goal seemed a bit of a bolt from the blue. Fucking hell, we can't win every game, we aren't the Harlem Globetrotters ffs.

The only consolation tonight, is that it doesn't look like both WBA and Forest are going to pick up points. Plus Forest look like they've lost a bit of form which is heartening.

Really fucking disappointing. Christ sake what is it about this bloody club we cant beat?

In fairness a loss has been in the post for a while now, we've been so lucky in numerous games it had to end some time. Thank god Forest lost tonight or else we'd be in trouble. Swansea is a huge game and, as like every team in this league, they will raise their game for us. We MUST win that game.

Sounds like we started pretty poorly, then after the goal responded well and came out second half well. The penalty killed us.
