another average performance, good result.  Not many players stood out today, Simpson my MOTM, good performances from Jonas, Coloccini, Williamson & Nolan did canny too. Van Aanholt was shakey at the start but got better. Guthrie was gash first half but improved 2nd. I dont think we should play him on the wing as he sticks in the middle bringing everyone in and ends up 2 people marking Jonas, we need someone who will play RM & stay there. Carroll was poor today, Best did quite well, Lovenkrands did well for 10 mins he was on.

Just got back , boring first half but we dominated so much.My ratings:

Harper - 7 - Some good save and a beast in the air on corners

Simpson- 6 - Had a lot to do on the right by himself and looked shattered in the 2nd half

Williamson- 7 - Very Solid and strong

Colo - 8 - Class

Van Aanholt- 7- Very attacking but got turned a few times in Defence.

Guthrie- 7 - Some nice passes around and didn't dwell on the ball like Swansea match.

Nolan - 7- Best game in a while

Smith- 6 - Good Cover for the defence , beast of a shot

Gutierrez- 8 - This guy should be a marathon runner , never stops

Carroll- 6 - Should have finished a few times and some poor touches

Lovenkrands - 6- Lucky goal , hope his injury isn't to bad

Subs:

Best - 5- No movement and looks a poor player

Pancrate - 6- Nice cross for Raylor

Raylor- 6 - Supersub

The first half felt like the longest half I've sat through in ages. Proper boring. Not an amazing performance, but a fairly comfortable win, so it'll do nicely. :snod:

I was convinced we were about 10 minutes in when Lovenkrands scored. I nearly shat when I checked the clock and there was only three minutes gone

Nice to see Lily Savage turn up in the Preston end too.

 Probably the highlight of the game. "Get your tits oot" "you've got chlamydia" etc.  ;D

Oh and Hughton gave us a wave.  :aww:

I was really happy to see a bit of Hughton love. He's never going to be the next SAF but he deserves a modicum of credit.

That said I was cursing the bugger when I saw Smith back in for Routledge before I found out he was injured

their missing the point on SSN, if we go up we'll have a decent amount of money to spend

What was the point made on SSN about Newcastle?

Your team isn't capable of stepping up, as it is.

Says who?

the fact the wage bill our giant weight holding us down cash wise in recent years has been significantly cut from what it was this time 12 months ago combine with prem tv cash, probably a slight upturn in attendance, sponsor money for the first time since fat fred cashed in all at once and probably a bit of an increase in corporate= decent amount of cash that the club has available to spend on its own merits without the need to be subsidised.

Of coarse thats assuming ashley continues from a positive jan transfer window which is by no means a certainty
