My beer-league Ice Hockey team plays at the American Airlines Center (Dallas Stars arena) every year in an in-house scrimmage game.  It's been a key highlight of our season for the last 6 years that we have done it. We bring players, ex-players, friends of players and even out-of-town friends who return year after year for the game. We meet up in Hooters for a pre-game meal (beer/wings) and a quick oggle of the servers, and then off to the game. Game performance always seems to be inversely related to beer consumption

 

It's an awesome feeling to walk up the the arena/stadium on game day knowing that you are about to play there. And when you step out of the tunnel onto the ice (pitch) and look around you at the stands it's fantastic. If you're lucky enough to score a goal too and have your name announced......well worth a few beers later in the clubhouse.

 

I know you'll all have a great time and the cost will seem irrelevant once you score at the Gallowgate end and perform the one-arm Shearer salute.

With the number of lap-dancing clubs around here, the talent at hooters is definately 3rd string.  Obviously more lucrative places for the girls to work. We also have a Hooters-Knock Off called Twin Peaks

There was one, in Nottingham. Not sure if it's still there but I had a meal in there with some mates who went to Nottingham Uni about 7 years ago.

Day after the Bank Holiday (Mon 3rd May), so an opportunity for a long weekend for some people.

Ignore the comments about NOFC vs another team, we're thinking of trying to get enough interest for our own match (14 players in each squad).

 

About £67 per player for:

 

- 45mins playing @ SJP

- Qualified referee & match officials

- Access to changing rooms, players tunnel.

- Family & friends can come and watch

- Post match food and entrance to Shearer's Bar (where we'd meet up with any other Newcastle-Online people for an end of season celebratory drink, who may or may not have watched the match)

Stu, can i just ask where you're getting £67 from? From what i can tell, if we manage to get two squads of 14 (so 1200 / 28) - that's £43 a pop. I don't have a calculator at hand mind so i could be way off.

I used to ref the ones at Middlesbrough last summer, they used to get shedloads of money out of it. It was usually companies using it as a present to clients, these prices seem a bit more reasonable though.

4th May is a good date. Directly after a Bank Holiday so I can get the train up from Home instead of Uni, won't have any lectures. So touch wood its a perfect day, will have no trouble paying by 2nd April as loan will have come in and I'll be working over Easter. Needless to say I cannot fucking wait!
