ponsaelius
What is their first team, anyone know? Without Bent, they seem to me to look like a very poor outfit. Without Darren Bent they're no better than us imo. Well maybe slightly, but the way they go on you'd think they were a CL side. They've got a lot of dross in their team. Stifler
They are saying they have N'Zogbia deal tied up. Forget living in our shadow, they are now buying our ex-players so that they can now become us 3 years ago. They'll still finish above us. Aye but they will be relegated in a year or 2. Ashley17
They remind me of us a few years ago in the sense that many of their players have issues or are living off past glories, and we all know how that ended for us. Gordon - Good keeper but getting a lot of injuries these days like a certain ex-keeper of ours. Cattermole - Good player but a cunt, will get more reds than assists, Joey Barton junior? Richardson - Ex-Man Utd, hasn't hit the heights bar a few good games and has a dodgy back. Likes a drink. Malbranque - Turned up to training drunk and isn't getting any younger Bent - The talent, if anything happens to him they're fucked. Jones - Had his head turned, isn't even automatic first choice these days. Riveros - No idea how he'll turn out, could be good, could be shit. Bramble - Bramble McCartney - Always injured. Unfortunately that Henderson looks a good player, Zenden has been very tidy on a free and they can probably muddle a defence together from Angeleri (?), Turner, that Egyptian and Da Silva. Few injuries though and it could be an amusing season from them.

Wullie
They're banking on a load of relatively unknown South Americans coming good. We've played that card before and it's a risky one. This time last season they were miles ahead of us - now at least half of our first team would walk into theirs imo.

Poor comparison with us too given Bruce has had greater succuss in that area than most. As for walking into their team saying at least half would is a bit shortsighted imo, wait til we have seen ours this year before pretending we can judge our Championship performances against their Premier League ones. Cattermole's just a fucking clogger anyway, he's Alan Smith tbh. I wouldn't have him, unless he's come a very long way since his Boro days. Who do they play on the wings? Routledge would be in with a shout too.
ponsaelius
Cattermole is much, much better than Smith. Not even a comparison. Cattermole actually has a decent engine on him and his passing range has improved, plus he has 10 times the defensive capabilities Smith has.

I know he signed for them last season but I am a bit surprised their other Paraguayan, Paolo Da Silva has barely had a look in for them. Very experienced and he looked extremely solid captaining Paraguay during the world cup. Overall though Bruce has been realtively successful when dealing in the central/south American market when you look at his signings for Wigan (Figueroa/Palacios/Rodallega etc)

TRon
The main problem for Sunderland is that it is still a shithole. Players like Bramble and Zog will go there only for the money and you can bet they will live in Newcastle, the city they much prefer. Fucking hell I bet Steve Bruce is living in Newcastle as well.
