There was no way the attendance was 48,000 tonight! There were a few seats left in the Bar 1892 area and one block between the home and away fans but very few empty seats other than that.

The directors section was virtually empty as usual, and there were still lots of empty seats in the upper sections of the lower Milburn. That probably accounts for a couple of thousand. Throw in the remaining seats in the segregation zone, the half full bit at the top of the lower Leazes and the odd empty seat here and there and 48k would be about the mark.

I don’t see why the club would lie? To piss off supporters who are desperate to break the 50k barrier so they can brag about it perhaps?

Routledge was alright tonight tbh. For every time he fucked up, he made something out of nothing as far as I'm concerned. 6/7 out of 10 imo.

agreed. as chez says, poor under pressure (ie blazing a one on one over), but he'd done well to get into good positions or create a chance in the first place. when he picked the ball up in space he invariably made something happen.

be interesting to see how he does next year. not overly confident, but he's pissed on this division.

It looks like Shola has given him a vampire bite and his body has went all limp.

We have more to brag about than attendances tbh!

it wasn't you, seen you sit in the gallowgate, this was the Leazes.  Funny thing was there was absolutely fuck all wrong with the throw in.  Danny S took it, opted for Jonas, and maybe could've reached Nolan, which I assume he thought was the better option.

PS. bigging up the Newcastle Arms - was well chuffed with my pre-match pint of Avalanche.  Taste sensation.

Enrique once again pick of the bunch - this boy is one player who should be first on the team sheet for next season. His dominance of opponents this season has been outstanding and his passing and forward support has improved beyond all measure.

There will be several top clubs considering trying to bid for him and it will be interesting to see what sort of money they think he's worth AND if NUFC turn them down..

Jonas too did well and was unlucky not to score what would have been one of the club's goals of the season.

A good team performance and result on a night which could have been an anti-climax.Credit to Sheff U for giving it a go, but the result was deserved by Newcastle.

Did Steven Taylor make it to the pitch I could only see Fitz Hall of the non playing squad at Full time.

Nah he didn't come out. Nolan went back and dragged Fitz Hall on, Guthrie didn't come out either after his injury. Couldn't see Ranger either but I don't even know whether he was there.
