JH
Despite the incredibly shit source, if true and relatively cheap I'd certainly take the loan. Especially considering we have four senior midfielders atm

Guest sicko2ndbest
Pardew says we are still working and that he feels there are a couple of deals that have gone through that have been bad value Bentley, Bent? http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20110120/patience-for-pardew_2281670_2271908

Yorkie
I can't understand why we'd even want Ireland? It'd be useful to have another midfield body until the end of the season, but you'd think he'd expect regular first-team football, wouldn't you? The Tiote/Nolan/Barton triumverate doesn't merit being dismantled, purely on the whim that Stephen Ireland might regain some of his form.

If Smith's out for the season and Barton's now considered a RW, Ireland would be needed, my concern is he'd get in Nolan's way, he'd work better in a 4-5-1 off Carroll. Hughesy
What if one or two of them are injured? If we can get him in without promising him 1st team football - all for it myself.

I'm just saying, surely we would have to promise that. Otherwise it's just a sideways step for him. Can he play off the striker? What position did he play at Man City when he was doing well? jdckelly
considering we're down to 2 senior proper cms (if bartons now counted as rm) i'm suddenly revising my opinion on ireland deal he's still a fucking loon mind

Dokko
Ireland loan is tempting as long as we agree a fee and he takes a wage cut should he able to recapture his form of old. Means Barton stays on the right which should please a lot, and gives us other options for when Nolan tires or isn't in the game. Think he's still got it in him, just needs someone to believe in him and bring it back out of him, hopefully the likes of Nolan and more specifically Barton can help him with this using their own experiences of turning it around, especially in front of a tough passionate crowd like ours. If it went well and we found the player under Hughes we've got a £20m player on our hands who's got 5 years at the top, if it goes wrong we send him back to Villa and he's their problem. I agree with this. I reckon he'd flourish with a group of players who's put a collective arm around him, in a good stadium where he'd have a huge amount of freedom due to Tiote sitting in behind letting him roam forward. I'd be up for a loan with fee agreed, even if he is a risk.
